  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What Is A Real Man?
What is a real man? Pray about it. Ask God! Seek His Word. Seek God's wisdom on the matter. It's in His handbook to man: His Holy Scriptures, The Holy Bible. Studying the life of Jesus, we find countless attributes and commitments that illustrate to us how to live as a man faithful to the Father's call.

The Perfect Man
  • Jesus is the perfect divine depiction of manhood. Jesus defines true masculinity. (Matthew 5:48, John 14:6, 1 John 1:7)

A Real Man Is Committed To...

  • follow a greater authority (Luke 9:59-62)
  • sacrifice all else in the shadow of discipleship (Luke 14:26)
  • determined, joyful obedience (John 6:66-69)
  • spiritual discipline (Mark 1:35)
  • abide in the word of truth (John 8:31-32)
  • growth and production, especially spiritual fruit (John 15:8)
  • carry out God’s mission (Matthew 28:19-20)
  • love others faithfully (John 13:34-35)
  • brotherhood and community (Hebrews 10:24-35)
A Real Man Is Defined By The God Who Makes Men

The Soul

7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. —Genesis 2:7 (KJV)

The Heart

7 But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart. —1 Samuel 16:7 (KJV)

The Respect

25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; —Ephesians 5:25 (KJV)

28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. —Ephesians 5:28 (KJV)

7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered. —1 Peter 3:7 (KJV)

He Protects

  • Real men shield the weak from exposure, injury, or other harms. (Romans 12:10)
  • Real men respect others. They protect themselves and others from various forms of exposure and injury. There are many opportunities throughout life to serve others by protecting them or their interests. (Matthew 7:12, 1 Kings 2:2-4)
  • God wants us to ultimately demonstrate His Character and be willing to protect anyone, anywhere, anytime—especially the most defenseless among us. (Romans 12:9-11)
His Responsibility
  • Worldly pursuits focus on rights rather than on obligations or duties. (Ephesians 5:1-33, Proverbs 31:8-9)
  • Real men take responsibility for their actions. (Titus 2:7, Isaiah 1:17)
  • Real men do not take a woman’s most precious gifts of heart, mind, and body without having committed through marriage to keep them forever. (Proverbs 5)
  • Real men don’t use excuses about being caught up in the passion of the moment or not being able to resist temptation. It is possible to resist! God sees the truth. (Micah 6:8)
  • Real men have the wisdom to anticipate compromising situations and think proactively about how to avoid them. (Proverbs 5)
  • Real men avoid being alone in intimate circumstances with a woman before marriage. (Ephesians 5:22-33)
  • Real men are just, kind, and walk humbly with the LORD. (Micah 6:8)
  • Real men delight in the way of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. (Psalms 1:1-6)
  • The book of Proverbs puts it this way, "A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself; the simple pass on and are punished." (Proverbs 27:12)
Worldly Things (To Be Aware Of)
  • The entertainment industry's worldly idea of manliness
    • Changes with the times and social norms of the flesh and idolatry
    • No stability in natural man toward faithfulness to God
  • The media offers us one flawed depiction of manhood after another
    • Glorifying the womanizing activities
    • Obsession for greed, power, and control
    • Stoic toughness and emotional distance
Husbands, Fathers, Brothers, And Sons: Be Real Men

13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. 14 Let all your things be done with charity. —1 Corinthians 16:13-14 (KJV)
