The Prayers Of David: The Prayer Of Faith

It was James that declared in James 5:13-15, ‘Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him’

The fate of the sick is determined by the prayer of faith! Sometimes as believers we allow the standard of the world to override the power of God! This is why Isaiah the prophet warned about not saying a confederacy and not allowing the standard of the world to limit the power of God. How many times have we seen sick believers leaving their fate just in the hands of doctors? However, the scripture tells us the fate of the sick is determined by the faith of the sick. Jesus said, 'If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth'(Mark 9:23)

And it is not just the fate of the sick that hangs on the balance of faith Habakkuk 2:4 tells us that our whole experience as believers is determined by the quality of our faith, 'for the just shall live by his faith'. In this kingdom, all of Gods blessings are faith conditioned! This was what Jesus pointed out in Mark 9:23, 'if thou canst believe all things are possible to him that believeth' . But much more in Mark 11:23-25, he went further by teaching the disciples how to pray the prayer of faith!

"And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them"

From verse 22 Jesus told the disciples what is needed to operate like God: have faith! Then in verse 23, he expounds to them the power of faith, what faith can do which includes moving mountains! And moving on to verse 24 he gave an analysis of how we put our faith to work: by praying the prayer of faith! And the prayer of faith begins with a desire which is declared in prayer and then the faith comes in, YOU MUST BELIEVE YOU HAVE IT BEFORE YOU HAVE IT! This was Jesus pattern!

But long before Jesus came, we had David who knew one or two things about praying the prayer of faith! Faith is not a New Testament phenomenon; it has always been the basis for the transmission of Gods power and blessings to humanity! Through faith, humanity connects with the ability of divinity! And David through his Psalms prayed the prayer of faith!
