Christology: A Study Of The Book Of John(john 2: When The Word Became Flesh)

When you open the word it is information but when the word opens to you it is a revelation. This is when the written word becomes the sent word, it is when the general word became a personal word and as they will say in the charismatic setting it is when the logos of the word became Rhema! Everyone talks about Rhema only a few people have experienced the true power of Rhema! Revelation is the first step in allowing the word to become real: to become flesh. This scripture in Luke 24 describes the experience of those who receive Rhema!

|||Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures |||Luke 24:45 KJV

The spiritual opening of the heart to understanding the word is the gateway to unending revelations and rhema in the word! And earlier in the verses before 45 of Luke 24, they described what their experience was as the word opened to them,

||| And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures? ||| Luke 24:32 KJV

This is what happens when the word is opened to you, there is a spiritual burning in your heart! an excitement because you have found spiritual treasures! This is what happens when the WORD BECOMES FLESH and dwells in your heart! Like Jeremiah his words become the rejoicing OF YOUR HEART: the word has become FLESH!

Now when something becomes your flesh can you deny it? No way! Can you deny any part of your body? Flesh? No way! Hence when the word becomes flesh you can no longer deny the power of the word in the face of any challenge! Those who have tasted of the power of the word cannot deny the power thereof! This is why during the last plandemic crisis that engulfed the world a few people will not change their gospel in the face of the crisis because the word has become flesh to them. This was coming at a time when a large portion of the church turned the word of God on its head. I will keep referring to that year's event because it's become a reference point for our faith. It was a spiritual examination and analysis of our deep faith in the word or not! It was the hour of persecution and temptation for the church and in the face of it, many who didn't have a revelation questioned the power of the word!

John 2 is a continuation of the theme of JOHN 1. Our major takeaway from John 1 is that the Word became flesh and then the world begins to feel the impact of the word! And this is how it must be for us too, the word must become flesh, become open to us so that this world can open unto us!

John 1:14 in the message translation was rendered thus: "The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood. We saw the glory with our own eyes, the one-of-a-kind glory, like Father, like Son, Generous inside and out, true from start to finish" John 1:14 MSG

The word became flesh and then MOVED INTO THE NEIGHBOURHOOD! This is how the word makes IMPACT, it was not static, but dynamic, so it moved into the neighborhood and we saw the result in the next chapter JOHN 2, which is our focus today.

In JOHN 2 we see God becomes real because the word was revealed. When the word is revealed, there are bound to be miracles, signs, and wonders as it happened here in John 2. The scriptures say here about Jesus, the word!

||| This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory, and his disciples believed in him. Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did ||| John 2:11‭, ‬23 KJV

The revelation of the word brought forth the manifestation of God: there were miracles and then the people believe! The supernatural manifestation of God's acts always acts as the bridge between our unbelief and faith in Him, for sometimes the people will not believe less they see miracles! And here they saw plenty because the Word became FLESH!

Now let's analyzed this and we will conclude our study today, it's not much but it's key. Each time people talk of John 2 the focus was always on how Jesus did his first miracle and the beginning of the spread of his glory through all the regions about! However a cursory look into John 2 reveals that this chapter was more than just the word moving into the neighborhood, it was also about how the word became flesh for some of the disciples here!

Now picture here a 30-year-old young guy who has never had a renowned ministry attending a major wedding in town and then it so happens that at one point during the celebration they ran out of drinks. And then this young guy who has never had a track record of performing miracles(remember this was his first miracle) ordered some "gullible" young guys like himself to feel the water bottles with water and then without prayer or any physical display of trying to invoke higher powers, asked them to share the water out as drinks? Who hath believe such a thing? Having some kind of credibility(through track record) in doing these kind of works would have helped, but no, this was a "rookie" preacher.

Yet with no track record of been known to be a miracle worker, except the mother inside knowledge of his son supernatural power, these disciples moved with the word, obey the word without question, and by so doing became spiritual co-operators with God in bringing about a manifestation of His glory on the earth!

Will the miracle have happened if they refuse to fill the waterpots? Would there have been a miracle of water turning into wine if the disciples refused to bear the water to the governor of the feast? How many manifestations of God's acts have been denied due to the believer's lack of spiritual cooperation?

For the believers here they saw the word, walk with the word, but it was the moment they OBEY the word that the WORD BECAME FLESH to them and they SAW ITS GLORY as one begotten of the FATHER full of grace and truth! No wonder the same writer of this gospel in another book of the Bible he wrote talked about his experience with the word.

||| That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ ||| 1 John 1:1‭, ‬3 KJV

Whatever your hands can handle has become FLESH to you, it is tangible, it is touchable, it is feelable, and yet it is the word of God! At this point, obedience to the written word turns it into the living word! I will write that again; obedience to the written word is what makes it become the loving word! The living word manifests forth the glory of the father in signs, wonders, and miracles. And this what happened here in John 2, they obey the word and the word became FLESH and they saw its glory!

Now picture our generation that tends to evaluate everything based on sense! Does it make sense to not cover your nose all because you believe God says you shall touch the sick and they shall be healed? Does it make sense for a pastor to tell his people to not take the covid 19 vaccines and put their faith in the blood of Jesus served through the communion? Does it make sense for people to belittle this virus that has taken many lives all because they believe in God? Yes, it doesn't make sense, the same way it didn't make sense for these disciples to bear water to the governor of the feast and present it as wine based on the order of one unknown young preacher in town!

The lessons of John 2 are clear, the word will impact the world when we align with the word, obey its contents and put our lives on the line for its truth and its power! The word only becomes real to those who obey it! Revelation makes us believe the word to the point we will gladly obey the word and put our lives on the line for the word! Obedience, however, is what makes the word becomes flesh: real and manifested to all in signs and wonders!
