The Communion Renewal

Every covenant is cut and ratified by the blood. The problem was that the old covenant under the law could only make atonement for our sins - cover it up. However, the new covenant, which was ratified by the blood of Jesus, however, did much more - it removed sin once and for all(Hebrews 9:11-15) and not just sin but all of the attendant consequences of sin, the curse of the law that includes sickness, disease, poverty, and failure were all removed!

Hebrews 9:11-15 made this clear ‘But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; 12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. 13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: 14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? 15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance’

When we come to the communion table what we have come to do is to renew that covenant of the New Testament! Hear what Paul said in 1 Corinthians 11:24-26,"...as often as ye eat this bread and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he comes'. In other words, each time we partake of the communion table we re-enact the new covenant and appropriate all of its attendant benefits, we show that the Lord did die and we indeed received all the blessings that come by his death on the cross!

The word "shew" from the root word means to declare! Partaking of the communion is a practical declaration of Jesus death and all that it accomplishes for us at the cross!

It is not a religious rite, it’s a declaration and appropriation of the blessings of the new covenant procured by the blood of the lamb!

It is with this understanding that we approach the lord's table. Those who do so with the wrong understanding and discernment are said to be "weak and sickly" after partaking of the Lord's table, instead of being 'strong and healthy'! Their understanding was amiss so the blessings could not be appropriated!
