Lately, God has been hard on me, telling me to stop hiding my faith, and learn how to talk about Him, including the wonders I have seen Him do, and see Him do every day. To witness and to share His Glory. To inspire and to increase the faith of others.
But because the Church today is not what God wants her to be, instead of having people rejoicing with me, celebrating God, usually I'm being persecuted and told to be silent. Hide God, hide my faith, turn off that light that God has put inside me.
I've met a few Christians whose faith has been greatly increased by what God has done, and they have shared their own stories. That has been wonderful to hear.
I'm thinking about the early Church. When the Apostles taught directly from having known Jesus and from having probably perfect understanding of the Old Testament. That must have been an amazing time to live! I wish I could go back and just talk to Paul. Let him teach me about what true service to God is all about. But I don't need to, because I have the same Holy Spirit and his writings.
The world is nearly equally filled with evil today as it were back then, but the Church is so weak, and there is so much fighting. And there is barely any understanding of who God is, who He expects us to be and what to do. I understand that there is a place for theology, and how seeking miracles without understanding God is very destructive. Because if it's not done for the right purpose, or in the right spirit, we're just deceiving and hurting people.
Then I see people prophesy from divining spirits, which is sorcery, believing it's God, because no one taught them about the Holy Spirit. They are spiritual, but lack discernment and knowledge. And then all their focus is put on themselves and not on God. And destructive lies get spread.
And then there's the people who turn on those who truly use their God-given gifts because of the way the false prophets act, in ungodliness and pride. They can't believe because they've never seen God move.
Where is God in all of this?
