Status: I think God's giving me a push...
What CAN we do when it seems that God isn't answering our prayers? What CAN we do when the months pass and the disappointment becomes unbearable? What CAN we do while we "wait on the Lord"?
We can do what God has been telling his people to do for literal generations.
We can serve.
Honestly, I feel like an idiot but I also feel a bit more joy than I have previously for not even really taking this idea to heart. I was so focused on the "I can't" or the "I don't have what it takes" or the "I don't have the resources" or "I don't feel well enough".
I have chronic health issues, a dead end horrible low paying job, no father, barely any family, few friends that are close by, an incredibly painful past, and daily struggles that seem to be overwhelming. BUT I live in the United States of America, a first world country. I have a roof over my head, clean water, food in my kitchen, clothes on my back, a relatively safe place to live, a church home, and I do have many friends even if they aren't close to me.
I HAVE MORE THAN MILLIONS OF PEOPLE ON THE PLANET DO!!!
I have enough to serve those who do not have what I do. I can give what I have to those who need it. There are homeless where I live. There are Christians in the Middle East who are fleeing for their lives and have had their churches bombed and torn down. I have enough to give to aid them.
I have been living selfishly by concentrating on my own problems and sorrows and ignoring God when He's telling me "Yeah you have a lot of pain but you can still serve. Your pain does not prevent you from serving." And He's right. My pain and my body and my struggles DO NOT prevent me from serving.
Time to get my behind in gear and start doing it. Even if I moan and groan along the way. Time to give and serve.
