'Now this was John's testimony when the Jews of Jerusalem sent Priests and Levites to ask him who he was' (John 1:19). Here we have John the Baptist being questioned by the Priests and Levites on behalf of the Jews of Jerusalem. John the Baptist was a humble,devoted servant of Christ. Here he begins to declare his mission for the Messiah. He was called by God to be the Forerunner to the Messiah,the Lord Jesus Christ. What a wonderful testimony he was to the True Light that was come into the world. We can be assured that he spoke the truth,the whole truth and nothing but the truth. He did not try to promote himself but to exalt Jesus. We may not be John the Baptist,but how like him we should be,in boldly proclaiming Christ!
