The church doesn't need as much twitter as much as it needs power!
If Peter was alive today am just wondering what he would have posted on his Twitter handle or Instagram page. Probably his live video feed will show what happened in Acts 5: 15-16 of his shadows healing the sick. It will also include video of Acts 3:1-6, where the man at the beautiful gate was healed and not to, forgot his miraculous deliverance in Acts 11. These will be the contents of his social media feed: the miraculous works of God and the tangible demonstration of his power!
Imagine what impact such tweets, posts will generate? I can just imagine a little: a million likes, hundreds of thousands of comments, and tens of thousands of shares! But much more there are stats that social media will not be able to capture: the over hundreds of thousands of souls that will be saved and as many of that same number that will be healed! This is the viral effect the power of God will have when it is broadcasted to the world!
But even without Twitter or any social media platform, the opposition confessed the Apostles have filled the whole of Jerusalem with their doctrine (Acts 5:28).
‘27 And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them, 28 Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? And, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us.’
And it wasn't just Jerusalem but also Samaria (Acts 8) Africa (Acts9) and the rest of the world (Acts 17:6).
‘6 And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, these that have turned the world upside down are come hither also’
The early church had a limited medium and platform but a powerful message that held the world in awe spread like wildfire, liberate millions and brought joy to the world.
Our generation has unlimited medium and platform but limited power and message to transform the world!
Our emphasis has been on the medium rather than the message, the platform rather than the power! Social media posts without any spiritual power will not bring any soul to the Lord! Our focus should not be on the medium but the message will put on the medium. The platform afforded us will not make any impact without the power of God!
