Dreams of travel

Last night I had two dreams involving travel. Nothing super special as usual, nothing outside of our usual travel zone, MN, WI, IL, IN, and MI.

In the first dream Dan and I went to some event in Chicago (I think), a seminar at a church there. I thought it would be interesting to visit another church and see what it was like and how they do things. We got there and walked in and noticed right away that all the men were wearing suits and ties and all the women were wearing dresses. Here we were in our jeans and casual wear. I looked around for anyone who might be dressed more like we were. I think there were some there but everytime we spotted someone they quickly moved out of sight, so I could never be sure what exactly those people were wearing. It was the middle of the week, and I thought to myself those people dress up more for a Tuesday night service than I do for Sunday morning. No one was being particulary friendly and no one said hi, but they weren't pointing fingers at the newcomers in the wrong clothing either, so that was good. Another thing we noticed was that there were not very many people there; for a church hosting a seminar it didn't look very well-attended. Then things got really odd. The PowerPoint came on and there was a Christian contemporary song playing on it. I though "Oh brother, I hope this isn't one of those anti-rock music seminars!" But the music kept playing and the people jsut sat and listened and I realized that these straight-laced people were really OK with the music that was playing. It was just odd.

In the other dream Dan and I were going on a trip to Chicago (again) with Pat and Harvey. Pat had arranged for us to ride a bus down there instead of driving a car because she thought it would be more comfortable, I suppose. The bus was an old yellow-orange school bus, and Dan was driving. We were to stop to eat on the way out of town at Kopp's on Appleton Avenue, which I knew was no longer Kopp's but I didn't want to say anything because I was afraid the plan would change. Robert's the new custard place is just as good as Kopp's and besides, visiting there would bring back memories. When we arrived at Kopp's I noticed one of the entries had been fenced closed, presumably because of the rise in the rate of crime in that area of town. Now the only way in required a sharp U-turn into a very small parking lot. I doubted Dan could manage that, but manage it he did, and he slip perfectly into a parking slot right next to some other busses. As we were exiting the bus harvey said to me that he might have to presume upon me to give him some of that pain reliever that I use. He was talking about Tylenol arthritis formula. The bumpy bus ride had lalready gotten to him and we hadn't even gotten out of town yet. As I handed him the tablets I wondered I he was aware that he could buy the same thing at any old store in town himself. I did not mind sharing, but I was glad there were plenty in the bottle so I would not run out for a long time. The flavor of the day at Robert's was "strawberry blond". I guessed this was probably vanilla custard with strawberries mixed in. When it was my turn to order I ordered a cheeseburger with a list of toppings and a scoop of strawberry blond in a cup. I asked what exactly was in that flavor and the girl said "strawberries with peanut butter". I thought that sounded good:confused:. Then she asked if I would also like caramel sauce with it. I said sure. I think that by now I was beginning to realize that the circumstances were all just a bit weird and maybe I figured out it was a dream and ended the whole thing. Or maybe I woke up.

This post turned rather long, didn't it? I thought it'd be a short one today.
