Deeper Walk: A Spirit Life Devotional(an Introduction 2)

A deeper walk with God brings a spiritual transformation of lasting impacts. When Moses came down from his 40days of spiritual honeymoon waiting upon God his face radiated God's that insomuch that no one could look upon his face, but much more the spiritual document he came back with will become the basis and the guide for most nations of the world to write their constitution. This is what happens when we seek God at a deeper level, we experience spiritual transformations that brings not only changes to our lives but also to the world we live in!

The result of a deeper walk with God is greater works on the earth(Daniel 11:32).

And talking about the honeymoon, I never really had the chance of going for one after I got married. This was due to the demands and rigours of church planting back then. I could remember going for a pastor's national meeting two days after our wedding. So lately I have been asking myself what is the purpose of the honeymoon? Who invented the idea and to what end? The first answer that came to my mind was from the WORD. God in one of the laws and instructions given to Moses said a young man who just got married can be exempted from military service or business for one year so that he can have time to cheer up her wife. This injunction we find in Deuteronomy 24:5,

"When a man hath taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any business: but he shall be free at home one year, and shall cheer up his wife which he hath taken"

Not many of us can afford to do that today. But we see how important the natural honeymoon is to God and it's purpose. First, it's for two people to devote time to each other and develop intimacy and secondly, from the man's perspective, it is time for him to dot on, devote and adore his wife!

So I have asked my wife, as I was thinking on this subject if having a honeymoon would have had an effect on our marriage then? Or even now after eighteen years of marriage, if we decide to take one would it have an effect? Will it make a difference if both of us goes away from our normal work routine, from our kids, our friends, our work, our family and just spend time with each other in a place no one knows us for 30 days? A place where it is just both of us waking up to see each other and no one else? Even after 18 years of marriage, my wife agreed such a separation or honeymoon will do us well and improve our intimacy and relationship!

Now am not planning to embark on anyone soon, so don't ask me if I am planning one. But here is the crux of the matter for me when looking at it from a spiritual perspective. What will be the effect of being with the Lord for a consecrated amount of time, say 30 days, where you dot on him, love him, worship him, talk to him, fellowship with him have on your spiritual life? Definitely, the answer is a resounding yes, no matter how much we have known the Lord or have walked with him there is always a deeper level. of relationship that can be attained through intimacy, through a period of spiritual honeymoon, a period where all of our thoughts and energy are focused on him! Such a time of separation will always have lasting spiritual impact.

This is the reason why people go away to a place of solitude to be with the Lord, it's not about the place, it's about the distractions avoided from day to day living to be able to wait upon God. Isaiah 40:31 tells us what happens when we wait on him, "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk, and not faint"
When we wait we renew and when we renewed we are recharged!
