Okay. So you're saying that this black guy shot that police officer because he was white? I should warn you that the sheriff's office has not officially disclosed, or perhaps even determined a motive. So when you say that this black man shot a white man because of race, where are you getting your information from.
Firstly, this is new. You hadn't mentioned this before. How is the phrase about frying bacon racist?
Secondly, the phrase "Black Lives Matter" is not meant to be at the detriment to other people's lives. It doesn't say White Lives don't matter. These people put that as a reminder that their lives are as important as anyone else's. Because they don't think you believe that. They honestly think that the average American believes their lives are expendable.
Right. Have they said White Lives do not matter?
Great. But that misses their message.
Who said he would?
You have definitively stated that the murder was caused by racism. Now you're asking whether it's true or not?
You are.
Great.
No. I would not be. I would be as dismayed and disgusted by the act as I am whenever a person murders another person regardless of race. That you are making this an issue of race demonstrates what I'm talking about.
This march that you described was protesting cops, not white people. Or am I wrong?
Ah, but see that's the deal. You don't care what people say about you, so there should be no reason to report me. I won't have to goad on you or harass you, but I would still point out that you're a racist when you make comments about illegal immigration, or police, or whatever. I would also have to go in to that thread about illegal immigration and racism and point out that there probably is a connection, and use you as an example.
And it wouldn't just be me. Anyone could, and probably should do the same.
Unless you have a problem with that.
I'm not specifically trying to insult you. But, I want you to feel insulted at the proposition of being called a racist. Is that not the case?
Well that doesn't help things at all.
I would much prefer that you didn't, and yes I would report you pretty darn quick. That's a pretty racist word, and I certainly do not approve of you using it toward me, or anybody.
Once and for all, I am not a "racist" by any definition of the word. The folks in my neighborhood...both black and white...wo
I would be accusing you of being a racist because of the things you've said, and your attitude toward people of other races.
You would be calling me the "n" word because you're judging me on my race.
But see, I am specifically asking your approval to call you a racist. If you don't care then I assume you approve.
I'm not trying to harass you. I'm just trying to get you to think about this for a bit. It's not that I care what you think of me. I hope that you care what you think of yourself, and that you want to be the type of person that others can respect. I want to think that you want to try to treat people with respect, and not make judgments about them based on the color of their skin, or place of origin, or height, or weight or anything like that.
I really think you don't want to be accused of being a racist. So, just tell me that.
Once and for all, I am not a racist.
You are making assumptions about me that you have no right to make.
Believe me, there are black people in this neighborhood who would be happy to tell you how very wrong you are.
That's right...this "poor widow" lives on the "wrong side of the tracks". To some of the snobs around here, me and my family are "poor white trash"...
And I live in Southern Alabama, where racism is rampant...on both sides.
I remember once, on my way to a friend's house one evening, (she lives near me), I overshot her driveway...someone had thrown a rock through a streetlight...and pulled into the next street to turn around. Before I could put it in reverse, I had five young black kids standing around my car...one at each fender, and one at my window. Was I scared? A white woman alone in this neighborhood after dark? You betcha. Fortunately, my friend had seen my car and she came to my rescue.
Evidently, the group that surrounded my car thought I was there to buy some crack. I had stumbled into their spot, where they peddled their wares...and if my friend had not seen me, it could have cost me my life.
Oh...did I mention that my friend...an older widow lady, much like myself...is black?
I do not regret the comments that I have made. I'm a little tired of this nonsense between the races...
Yes, and it goes both ways. My son was hit in the head with a bottle thrown from a car because he was walking in a "white neighborhood" with his black friend, a guy named Anthony, who has been like a son to me since he was a scrawny little kid of fifteen, and who has grown into a fine, handsome figure of a man. It took eight stitches to close the wound. I was pretty angry about it...but I don't think anyone was as angry about it as Anthony.
My daughter has been harrassed by a group of black kids....basically because she is a very pretty young lady. Anthony, who sees himself as her "big brother"..."handled the situation". We didn't see those boys again.
White people want to blame it all on blacks....black people want to blame it all on whites...and the bottom line truth is that both are at fault.
Has there been unecessary police violence against black suspects? Yes, there has...and yes, it is wrong, and yes, those officers ought to be punished. And many of them have been. Some have...and rightly so...lost their jobs.
But this...this nonsense about "pigs in a blanket" is just stupid...it is inciting violence. It is basically asking for a violent response from black people...and no one ought to be surprised when some silly black punk kid decides to, indeed, fry him some bacon. It's as if those people had tossed a lit match into a keg of dynamite...did you really think that it would not go "BOOM!"???
I'm not going to continue to argue about this with you. I am no more of a "racist" than you, or anyone else on this board is.
Do I think black lives matter? Of course, they do. I think most "average white Americans" know that. But I think most average white Americans believe that our lives matter, too...and we wonder if the "average black American" understands that.
We just
