Back when I first got online, there were no online dating sites. In fact, the only ISP's in my area were AOL and MSN. DSL, Cable weren't available, either.
So, my first "online dating experience" came by way of chatting in online chat rooms. One girl in particular used to hang out in the same kind of chat rooms as I. So, we struck up an online friendship and after about 6 or 7 months, she tells me she is going to be visiting some friends "near me". Near me is in Spartanburg, SC, which isn't anywhere close to me. But I decide to make the drive to actually meet her in person. So, we meet. Online, she told me she was 5'4". She is actually 4'10". She told me she was from Atlanta, but when we meet she has a Russian accent. The only truthful thing I got from her was her picture, but there were no reference points to show how tall she was. Anyway, we spend nearly 12 hours visiting her friends and then later, just me and her talking at a restaurant. After spending that much time with her, I can tell she isn't the one. She talked incessantly. By the end of the visit, I pretty much knew her life story. All the graphic details, which weren't pretty.
About a month goes by and one day I arrive home from work to find her sitting in her car in my driveway. Now, I didn't give her my address. She knew the county in which I lived. She drove here, stopped at a gas station, and looked me up in the stores phone book.
Needless to say, I wont try online dating because from what Ive heard, things have only gotten worse.
