Is it essential to get water baptized in the name of JESUS Christ for the remission of your sins for salvation or is it not essential?
I have to be careful, so as not to cross the Baptist line. So I will say it in a form Baptist will accept (yes I am a Baptist but don't agree on this issue with the Baptist ways). Is it essential to get water baptized in the name of JESUS Christ for the remission of your sins for salvation or is it not essential?
Act 19:1 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,
Act 19:2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.
Act 19:3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.
Act 19:4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
Act 19:5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
Act 19:6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
It is amazing that Paul had came across people that Apollos had preached to before about the baptism of John which was for repentance. Paul being amazed that they have not received the Holy Ghost since they believed he then questioned about what were they then baptized? They were baptized unto John's baptism. If there is no need to be baptized in the name of JESUS Christ then why did Paul re baptize them the name of JESUS Christ?
Water Baptism is NOT an outward sign. It is necessary to get Baptized in the Name of JESUS Christ to have your sins remitted.
John the Baptist's baptism did not wash away the sins. If it did then Paul would have not re baptized them again.
Mar 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
The world says: he that believeth and is SAVED shall be BAPTIZED.
Paul was baptized in the Name of JESUS for the remission of his sins.
Even though he had a visitation from the Lord, was given instructions about his ministry, blinded and then healed and still he had to get baptized in the Name of JESUS Christ to have the circumcision of the heart done on him so that God can cut away the foreskin of his heart where his sins are at.
Act 22:16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
Be baptized, and wash thy sins away, calling on the name of the Lord which is JESUS! That's why it says:
Act_2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
That calling is invoking the name JESUS.
But we don't take that seriously. We don't believe that is the name above ALL names. We don't believe we need to be saved by that name. According to the Bible, when we go down in that watery grave in the Name of JESUS Christ by calling the name out, we are circumcised with a spiritual scalpel. He does an operation on your heart.
Col 2:10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
Col 2:11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
Col 2:12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
Col 2:13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
Col 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
People believe that water baptism is a work. No it is not. God does the operation by our FAITH.
"Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him THROUGH THE FAITH of the operation of God"
Rom 2:28 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
Rom 2:29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
A spiritual Jew is one that has their heart circumcised by God by baptism.
Good note and it's so much more. Jesus came for Israel only and John the Baptist was prophesied to come forth. After death, burial and resurrection water baptism is not necessary to be saved and sealed. If water baptism is necessary to be saved, why did Jesus tell the criminal on the cross he would be with Him that day in paradise? He didn't have a way to be baptized.
Luke 23:39-43
Is it essential to get water baptized in the name of JESUS Christ for the remission of your sins for salvation or is it not essential?
*Your preaching Moses, not Christ*
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
Just as it was in the O.T. it is in the N.T.
What does Scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness." Romans 4:3
But also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness--for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead - Romans 4:24
You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard? Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh? Have you experienced so much in vain—if it really was in vain? So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard? So also Abraham “believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” Galatians 3:1-6
Please read Galatians 3
Faith is the only prerequisite for salvation.
If water baptism is necessary in order to be saved, why did Jesus tell the criminal on the cross he would be with Him that day in paradise? He didn't have a way to be baptized.
Luke 23:39-43
What you don't realize is the word "for" means because of. Sin is not remitted by baptism it is covered by the precious blood of God's darling Son.What you don't realize is, Paul, Peter and the church back then were water Baptized. Why would Paul, Peter and others preach water baptism in the Name of JESUS Christ for the remission of your sins if it is a works of the LAW?
Gal 2:18 For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.
Peter says:
Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Act 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
For this promise is unto you, and your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
Show me where water baptism was taken out. even as many as the Lord our God shall call. That includes this very generation.
There are three questions here:Is it essential to get water baptized in the name of JESUS Christ for the remission of your sins for salvation or is it not essential?
Why not? Is it not an outward sign of an inward reality? Please note carefully:Water Baptism is NOT an outward sign.
