The origin of the Sabbath has been debated by Bible scholars with some that argue that the Sabbath originated at the time of Moses. A major reason why the question of the origin of the Sabbath has attracted much attention is because with it is bound the larger question of whether or not the principle and practice of seventh-day Sabbathkeeping is binding upon Christians. So we will look at this question at Creation and see what it has.
Genesis 2:1-4
1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens,

Verse 1 and 4 makes clear when the origin happened, as it was after man was made and all the work of creation finished, which helps in understanding that the Sabbath was established by God at creation for the benefit of mankind, which would make its observance as a creation ordinance binding upon all, Jews and Christians.

if we look at verse 2 and 3 we find in the verses that the Biblical view of the origin of the Sabbath is unequivocal: the Sabbath, as seventh day, originated at the completion of the creation week as a result of three divine acts: God "rested," "blessed," and "hallowed" the seventh day.

Twice we see that it states that God "rested" on the seventh day from all His work. The Hebrew verb shabat, translated "rested," denotes cessation and not relaxation. Now in Exodus 20:11 the idea of rest is expressed by the Hebrew verb nuah, which is used, is as where the divine rest fulfills an anthropological function: it serves as a model for human rest. In Genesis 2:2-3 however, the divine rest has a lager function as it serves to explain that God was content to be the Creator of this world and did not need to proceed to further creations here on the earth, it ended at that point. To acknowledge this fact, God stopped or ceased.

Genesis 2:2 affirms that the Creator "blessed" (brk) the seventh day just as He had blessed animals and man on the previous day. Divine blessings in the Scripture are not merely "good wishes," but assurance of fruitfulness, prosperity, and a happiness in life. In terms of the seventh day, it means that God has promised to make the Sabbath a beneficial and vitalizing power through which human life is enriched and renewed. In Exodus 20:11 the blessing of the creation seventh day is clearly linked with the weekly Sabbath, and the same rest.

Exodus 20:10-11
10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

The theological reasons given for the command to observe the seventh day Sabbath in verse 10 "to the Lord your God" is "for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them and rested the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it" in verse 11. Notice it clearly repeats the same as Creation, God "rested," "blessed," and "hallowed" the seventh day.

You skipped over the part where God first commanded anyone to keep the sabbath. And maybe you can find a Jewish source that agrees with you.

The Sabbath was made for Adam, not Adam for the Sabbath.

Had to look that one up...
"The name derives from Adam (Hebrew: אָדָם), the name which God the Father used to refer to men and women both male and female, according to the Hebrew Bible, which is, in turn, derived from the noun adamah (אדמה), meaning "soil" or "earth"."

Show us someone who agrees with you.
I do.

So does scripture.

Genesis 1: 26 ¶And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Genesis 2: 2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.*n1

Hallowed and sanctified are synonyms.

Actually that's simply your opinion. Show me some source that agrees with you. Find some well known Jewish rabbi from any time in history.
Yeah, you know the Jews rejected Jesus so go to them for your research. What a place to find truth.

You mean the way you rely on them for the bible yet reject the bible of Christianity or did you mean some other group?

Notice it clearly repeats the same as Creation, God "rested," "blessed," and "hallowed" the seventh day.
In my opinion, The reason given for the command in the context of the Sinai covenant is the key verse of
Exodus 20:2 “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

The Egyptians had a different worldview and understanding of Creation. Some believed that the gods supposedly created mankind as the servants to work for them. Some gods were always in conflicting/fights never resting. The God of Israel was different and his people were to be different.

Notice the difference between Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5, when it comes to the sabbath commandment all the other commandments are the similar or the same but those two are elaborated on differently... Exodus explains who the I AM is HE IS THE CREATOR,
Exodus 20:11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth and the sea and all that is in them, but on the seventh day He rested. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and set it apart as holy
Notice that the 6 days all end in the refrain, their was evening and their was morning.. the seventh day does not have this... because it wasn't necessary for another. What Israel's God, THE CREATOR God had created was good.

Deuteronomy 5:15 Remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD your God brought you out of there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. That is why the LORD your God has commanded you to keep the Sabbath day
Deuteronomy tells them who they were, lest they forget and who He is that brought them out . The I AM, delivered them and they came out by Him, His grace not by their works.
This was also the second time the commandments are given after they failed to understand who He is (they thought He was akin to Egyptian gods - golden calf ).

I AM delivered them and they were to be a holy a people, a different kind of people.

The Sabbath is a shadow of what was to come. God rested from His works on the seventh day. It does not mean that He was no longer involved with mankind, but had rested from His creation of the Cosmos. This lead to the institution of the Sabbath when man worked for six days and rested on the seventh. This is where man rested from his works. All this is prophetic, because under the Old Covenant, salvation was based on works, ie: offering burned offerings, the blood of bulls and goats, and keeping the Mosaic Law.

When Jesus as ascended into the heavenly Holy of Holies and presented His blood as the one time offering for the sin of the world, He became our Sabbath rest in which we rest from works to achieve our salvation, and rest by faith in Jesus Christ. What this means is that those who have faith in Christ have left the Jewish Sabbath behind. It is no longer needed. It has became obsolete. Jesus has replaced it.

Those who insist on maintaining the Sabbath as essential for salvation and sanctification are showing that they have not come to faith in Christ, and therefore Christ is no advantage to them. Because there is no other name but Christ in order for salvation, preferring to observe the Jewish Sabbath instead of Christ being the full Sabbath rest from works, means a denial of Christ and those who make observing the Saturday Sabbath essential to salvation are not genuinely converted to Christ and therefore not saved.

This does not seem to align with NT teaching, unless you are stating that the apostles are in an unsaved state when they died as they kept every Sabbath Acts 13:42-44 Acts 16:8 Acts 18:4 etc. etc. decades after the death of Jesus when He died and on His death His covenant ratified and nothing could be changed to His covenant.

Jesus commissioned the apostles to observe everything He commanded. Mat 28:18-20 His faithful followers kept the Sabbath according to the commandment after His death Luke 23:20.

I think it’s up to Jesus who is saved and who is not. God kept the Sabbath, Jesus kept the Sabbath, His apostles kept the Sabbath and His faithful followers kept the Sabbath according to the commandment. Luke 23:56 Seems like the group to be in instead of doing our own thing, as we were made in the image of God to follow Him.

Once God blesses something as He did the seventh day Sabbath, man can not reverse Num 23:20 and in all of your assessment, not one passage was quoted from scripture, yet alone a thus saith the Lord about God’s holy Sabbath day. If you prayerfully research all the Sabbath scripture in God’s Word almost all have a thus saith the Lord around them, so thats some big shoes one would need to fill to disprove God’s Sabbath and His holy day that He said in His own Words. Isaiah 58:13. There is no scripture in all of God’s Word that says we can break any of His commandments- Jesus said we are not to break the least of them. Math 5:19-30 The one commandment God said Remember, the one that is holy and blessed by God is doubtful that is a least commandment, but even if so, Jesus told us to keep. Jesus said heaven and earth would pass before one dot if an i or cross of a t could be removed from His holy law. Mat 5:18 My faith is in His every Word and until God says we can break His Sabbath and His holy day, my faith is in Him.

This is what God says:

Isaiah 56:1

Thus says the Lord:

Keep justice, and do righteousness,
For My salvation is about to come,
And My righteousness to be revealed.

2 Blessed is the man who does this,
And the son of man who lays hold on it;
Who keeps from defiling the Sabbath,
And keeps his hand from doing any evil.”

6 “Also the sons of the foreigner
Who join themselves to the Lord, to serve Him,
And to love the name of the Lord, to be His servants—
Everyone who keeps from defiling the Sabbath,
And holds fast My covenant—

We should be a servant to God instead of following the crowd keeping mans traditions over the commandments of God. Mark 7:7-8 Mat 15:3-9

You've proven yourself a lawyer.
However, a lawyer by default surely places himself/herself squarely under the law.

Unless one acknowledges and accepts that Jesus has become the believers' Sabbath rest which replaces the obligation to keep the Saturday Sabbath, they may be religious, but they can't claim to be Christian.
