Have you considered having a class specifically for men? There are probably others who feel the same way. You could allow women if you chose, but this would allow a place for men to do Zumba without having to feel like they're being looked at askance by the women.
While I don't have a problem with men in my class, I have several participants who wouldn't come if there were men. They just feel awkward and uncomfortable about it, because of the movements and, possibly, because they're dressed down for exercise.

I don't know if anyone has replied to your post about Christian Zumba instructors or when you posted this, but there is an awesome Christian Team on You Tube out of Waco, Texas. I have met them personally and can voucher for thier integrity and character. They have several choreographed videos on You Tube that you can use and I get a lot of my songs and Choreography from them. They are called Refit Rev (formerly H.O.T. Z Team). They use alot of Christian artists who are latin as well as American artists who use Rap and Hip Hop style music. Check them out and good luck!

I have been wanting to try Zumba, but I'm afraid I wont be able to keep up with the dance moves. I have tried group fitness classes that are supposedly for any fitness level, but sometimes the classes go too fast for me so I miss steps.

I got an email today from PraiseMoves.com. They teach/sponsor a form of Christian Zumba called Mira! There are training classes and instructors all over the country. There are atleast 10 in my state and 1 in my area. You should check out the PraiseMoves.com website. I am. They seem to have other fitness programs too. They also provide encouragement for a Christian soul as well.
Blessings!

Hi, I am Christian and do Zumba-absolutely love it, I do wish there was more christianity type moves-but I feel my health and fitness are more important then worrying what other people think and so far there is no swearing in the music. I need to compete with others to become fit and health and loose weight, additional we have limited options near us, for me it has to be alot of fun to enjoy it. I don't know exactly why many Christians are against Zumba-but to me I think its pretty good all around-yes I do agree the dances are abit sexy but all DANCES are that, and that certainly doesn't mean you are not a christian because you do these crazy dance moves, it means your thinking of health and fitness and enjoying what you do. One of my Zumba instructors went to Catholic school in New South Wales. Yeah it up to you and as long as you think of Jesus, and don't let these moves distract you from focusing on him! I don't drink any alcohol, never had sex, and never kissed a guy in my life. Put it this way, if it wasn't for Zumba I probably be extremely high risk for heart attack, stroke, and diabetes!

I am glad to see you ladies trying to clean up Zumba. The struggle I see here is that the brand Zumba promotes provocative dancing, provocative clothing and provocative music. It does not seem that a church should be promoting Zumba all. Its a bit like having a Smirnoff party at church and serving watered down vodka. How can it be good for people to go to church try watered down Zumba and be tempted to go and do what Zumba really is.

Exercise is a wonderful thing. Appropriate dancing is a wonderful thing. Great music is a wonderful thing. Appropriate clothing is a wonderful thing. If you take these things and put together a dance exercise class without calling it Zumba it seems that your troubles of finding appropriate music and moves will go away.

I really am shocked that so many churches are allowing Zumba. If pastors took the time to understand what the brand promotes it would not be happening.
