  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Under our current healthcare system, the incentive is for them to see more patients per day, rather than spend time with them. They are paid by volume, not quality.
I like the idea they have in Canada, where the doctors are paid bonuses based on patients they get to lower their blood pressure without medicine, or quit smoking, etc ... This seems more like real health care to me.
quality not quantity? What a novel approach.

On the plus side, Zoloft is licit birth control...granted only by double effect, so you would have to be on it because of depression or anxiety - but if you're anxious about having more kids, this pill could be the bomb-diggity.
If the contraceptive effect is directly intended for any motive whatsoever, then using Zoloft is gravely immoral according to Humanae Vitae.

What "contraceptive effect"?

Zoloft is often reported to be a libido killer...was for me anyway. It could be used for birth control, but it isn't a contraceptive.

It's like chemical NFP:)

Yes that is true, however we should take the high road with folks and assume the best. It isn't like Zoloft is a contraceptive with a mental health side effect. It is an anti-depressant.

You never know with zealots.

That strikes me as a good name for a zaney '50s sitcom.

Did I mention that I spent $800 on a single book yesterday?
My company is reimbursing me for it or I wouldn't have done it. That is an expensive book

Oooh, I do that too! I never know if I should feel bad about it or not. Do you keep the books at your house, and would you return them if you left your job?

Fortunately the entire contents of the book also come on a CD, so I will keep a backup copy of the CD, but I'll leave the printed copy there at the office.
Since I travel so much, it's easier to carry the CD than the huge book :)

As for keeping the book after leaving employment - it depends I suppose. If the book was purchased as my personal training, then I'll likely keep it, but if it was a general use book meant to be part of a company library (which this one is), then I wouldn't keep it. The terms of the purchase seem to dictate this. I have never given back training material to my company when I leave the job.

i HAD TO QUIT TAKING zOLOFT BECAUSE i COULDN'T REMEMBER STUFF... like turning off my caps lock...

I was good with neutral. That's good place for me. Now come gain with the birth control part....maybe I ought to get back on it.

I think as Andrew weans I'll probably go on Wellbutrin- and see how that works for me.

Prayers for your surgery Shel  I wish I was closer so I could come help you out afterwards, you little butt nard.

Aren't these drugs addictive? How can you be "open to life", whilst taking them? I had to come off St John's wort when I got pregnant but didn't manage to quick enough and had a miscarriage. I then got pregnant again before going back on the SJW. I found it hard to stay off during that pregnancy. The depression was definitely worse than it had been before taking the SJW in the first place. I also had the worst post-natal depression following that pregnancy. These drugs mess up the brain chemicals.

SJW doesn't have approval from the FDA.

For folks like me who have PTSD and other disorders-- our brain chemistry is messed up in the first place. My brain doesn't work right. There are several anti-depressants that are Class A or B drugs and safe or nuetral to be on while pregnant. Herbs are completely not regulated and unless you have someone you know and trust in their skill and expertise in preparing herbal tinctures, etc. and skilled in dosing herbs - it is best to avoid herbs completely. There are some very knowledgable herbalists out there to offer their services, but personally I wouldn't self medicate with herbs.

FWIW peri-natal depression is often worse in subsequent pregnncies because one's good fat stores are depleted.
