Ok...a slightly more serious one...

Where-ever in this world....isn't "hell" whatever name it is known by, the one "in" the Earth?...I want to visit it...see how horrible it is and tell everyone when I return. (I assume this "trip" has a return option lol)

If the check is blank, why can't we go many places? ;)

Greece is at the top of my list.

But also ...

Alaska
The Holy Land
Vietnam
Russia
France
Iriomote island
The Grand Canyon
Iona
Constantinople (yes I'm calling it that)
Australia
and probably a few more places. :D

I've been to the Grand Canyon. It was...adequate. The Adequate Canyon.

Japan has this weird thing in some of their aquariums where their otter enclosures have a little hole in them so that you can 'shake hands' with an otter. So I think I'd have to go do that, just to say I had.

Also I want to go to Algeria to play with a fennec fox in something like its natural environment (the Sahara). If these little girls can do it, then so can I, darn it.

At first I thought it might be scared cos I don't know what its little chirps mean, but starting around 1:17 it actually digs a little hole in the sand so that it can lay down next to her for a second. That's so neat!

And of course also Lalibela and Axum and Tur Abdin and Etchmiadzin, etc. (OO equivalents of wanting to go to Constantinople, I guess. :)) The Monastery of St. Thaddeus in Iran (known locally as qareh kelisi "the black church") has been on my list for a long time, since it's one of the oldest churches in Iran. The Iranians even claim it is one of the oldest churches in the world, though that's not verifiable in the slightest; it has been rebuilt several times, and the oldest portions that still stand only date from maybe the 10th century (though there is written record of it dating back at least to the historian Movses Khorenatsi's History of the Armenians, completed in 474):

Ok Algeria gets added to my list for that reason. Though I once stopped on the California coastline highway about halfway up and found these ground squirrels that would play with me - they climbed on me. And I was a little afraid they might bite. But that fox has them beat.

Of course I'd love to go to Mt. Athos but it would take more than a big check so not on the table for me. :p

I think I'm supposed to say Mt. Athos.

However, I believe I'd choose Russia or Romania. There's so much there for both faith and cultural intereste for me to see.

I would also like to see the British Isles because they're my ancestoral home. However, I imagine I would need a time machine to satisfy my curiosity about them.

where would you go?
Unless it's properly signed and the person giving it has enough money and only the amount is left blank, then I'd want to go to africa

I would rather have the money to build my dream church building:]
A real church where sinners are welcomed, Drunks, Druggies, Prostitutes, Convicts, and Everyone Else regardless of who they are, They would feel loved and welcomed.
there would be christian counselors available 24/7 to anyone who needed them for free and the doors would never close.
A food pantry at the back for our community and homeless shelter at the side with a soup kitchen and there would be a 24/7 prayer room where people could take shifts and come and pray for the community and the nation non stop.

I have big dreams :]

Haha no fair - I have other ideas on which to spend money too. Travel in fact is WAY down my list - evidenced by the fact that the only time I've ever been out of the country was that I walked to Mexico one time (not willing to drive and have my insurance be invalid) when I found myself in a border town.

  1. Nach das Heimatland. To Germany, specifically the Rheinland-Pfalz region. Und vielleicht auch in die Berge. And possibly to the mountains of southern Germany, as well.
  2. В Россию. I would want to see St. Petersburg, Valaam Monastery, Moscow, the Tunguska impact site, and Kamchatka.
  3. Στην Ελλάδα. I want to go to Greece, but not any particular part of it. I just want the chance to practice the language with native speakers.
I also wouldn't mind seeing China, but until I know the language better I'd rather not put my organs at risk of being illegally taken from me.

I would travel to every Orthodox monastery, staying a while at each, learning what I could of the history, saints relics at each one, and then put together a series of books like "Evlogeite". As much as I like the book, it really only covers monasteries in Southern Greece and just a few in the North. I'd love to put together something much more comprehensive.

I was able to visit about 20 different countries when I was in the Navy, mostly Europe. So I'll start out my travels now to:
Russia
Mt. Athos
Japan

When I return, I'll get an RV and visit as many Orthodox Monastaries as I can.

As I'm now waiting for said check, I may come up with other ideas.

I suppose I should add on Greece and Russia :) I love the monasteries here in the States though...so I’m happy to go visit them here.
