  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I always find it interesting how the same people who say we should not break the law, God's or otherwise, will rejoice when they hear stories of missionaries who smuggle Bibles into countries where they are not permitted. What happened to the law there?

We are a nation of laws and we are to obey the laws of the land. Those who break the law should by held accountable in a just manner.

That being said, I am in now way against immigration but illegal immigration is another manner.

Of course, if we did away with unconsitutional entitlements and social programs we could have more open borders as we wouldn't be flooded the way we are now.

We obey the laws of the land as long as they do not force us to disobey God's law...for a biblical example of civil disobedience read about Daniel, Esther, and Shadrack, Meshak and Obednigo.

illegal or otherwise, as it should be.

And you or I and obviously not the government are not in a position to judge.

The problem needs to be addressed at the root, which is to keep them from coming in illegally or all other efforts will be inconsequencial.

Again, a certain amount of amnesty will be necessary...I don't really like the idea myself, but realistically...it will.

I am however, really confused with how they get healthcare and wic and aide and people were even lobbying for Drivers Licenses...you see, limiting or doing away with these things will help eliminate the mad movement to come here DUUUUHHHH!

We also have to look at our nation's safety..how many people who have intent on doing harm have entered illegally? This is a huge concern for me too.
All of the 9-11 terrorists did it through both Mexico and Canada.

That alone has me all for shutting our borders down.

If we had free health care and spent money on our systems, instead of giving it the bare minimal amount of money, then you wouldn't have to have these problems.

Who do you think would pays for "free" healthcare? I think "free" government run healthcare would cost me more than my expensive current healthcare. The quality would also most likely get even worse than it is now. It also would not solve any problem. I think it would only cause more issues.

I do not see how "free" healthcare would help illegal immigration. It would only add to the problem if we promoted free care for all.

Living in Southern California most of my life, I have heard too many first hand stories about hard working Americans going into extreme debt/bankruptcy over healthcare bills while the illegal in the emergency room with them gets it for free. I would rather the funds go to help the American citizens in need of care than a criminal.

Not only is the illegals baby's delivery free, but as a bonus prize the child get citizenship. Now the government is responsible for them for life.

I must say, I do not know how the hospitals could ever turn an illegal away who was in dire need of emergency care. This would go against the oath the doctors take. This problem starts at the border. My understanding is the doctors/nurses are just furious that they are put in the position to have to treat illegals in their facilities. I am sorry that our government has put the hospitals in the position to have to treat illegal immigrants for free.

Illegal immigration is definitely wrong and while I can't blame them for wanting a better life, there are better ways to go about getting a better life than by illegally immigrating to another country. That said, citizenship should be easier to obtain in the United States.

It's not hard to obtain at all. You have to have the patience to go through the process

There lies a problem.

You are not an ITALIAN American.

You are an AMERICAN period.

And sir, if you represent my country I am ashamed. I have never seen such a disregard of respect for a person. Being from a military family and engaged to an officer in the Navy, I know that this is not part of the code of honor most of our military men and women uphold.

You have shamed my country and the branch of military you serve.

I have no problem with LEGAL immigration....
You wanna come to the US? Fine, there are plenty of LEGAL ways to immigrate...

You come ILlegally, and ya need to be sent packin' back where you came from...without the stay in my country.

No, I don't care about your ethnicity, I don't care about your race, I don't care about your religion....

I DO care that it's LEGAL...

if it's not...then welcome to being treated like any other criminal...

If you come here, and become a citizen, then guess what, you're an American, not an African American, Mexican American, Lebanese American...bull...you're an American...
Face it...if where you came from was so great, you wouldn't have come here...so learn the language...it's ENGLISH...and learn the traditions, They are the 4th of July and Thanksgiving, Labor Day, and Memorial day, and Veteran's Day. Religious holidays are fine, but don't expect me to stop saying Happy Hannukah or Merry Christmas because you might be offended!

oh ... and 1 time of trying illegally...and you don't get a 2nd try at it legally, ya blew it...

What is this outburst of grumbling and yelling from a Christian to another Christian - IN THE NAME OF NATIONAL PRIDE - when we should be 'christs' to each other?

ohhh but Christ said to uphold the law...to be subject to authority.

I've done no wrong in stating that illegal immigration needs to be stopped and illegal immigrants need to be treated like the criminals they are.

The thread title is: "Your views on illegal immigration..."

Those are my views

Well but Christ does NOT instruct you to communicate your opinions in a manner that is "blunt as a sledgehammer". Have you read about such qualities as love, meakness and humility in the pages of the New Testament?

Y'shua's instructions were yea be yea and nay be nay, to use "plainness of speech" ...
In this "politically correct" world of ours, it's known as blunt.

I haven't changed that in more than 20 years, not about to now just to make someone have warm fuzzies, or get all cuddly over an opinion...

Don't like it? Don't read it.

Christ was blunt at the pharisees, he was not blunt for the cause of national pride. Do you guys really skip the whole sermon on the mounts and all the exhortations in Paul's epistles to keep control on your language and aim at nothing less than what's recorded in 1.Cor13?

Do you "American conservatives" still advocate the kind of racism that was around at the times of MLK?
