Ps3 vs Wii vs 360. Which to choose which to choose?

I've chosen based off what I know now- which one would you pick, if you could only pick one?

Me? Nintendo Wii: Because its got everything I want.

I'm shifting from violent, magic filled video games to nicer, less-magical influenced non-violent games

Due to religious reasons. Now, usually, these sorts of games come in short supply in the fun category. The Wii, however, is different. Nintendos really pushing 1st party support- and they don't make violent games- and their games are often sheer brilliance (Mario Galaxy is my most hyped game right now, looks sweet) of course, they do have a tendancy towards magic (Zelda, for instance) but I can ignore those. Sonys 1st party games strike out in this category, same with Microsofts.

Great games

Sub-category in this: Not only does nintendo have clean games- nintendo has good games. Their track record is great. And, even if you don't like nintendo games- I like nintendo games. I don't care what anyone else says, I like them, so meh.

Virtual Console

Is also a absolute must have. Nintendo 64 games for download for reasonably cheap? I'm sold I'm guessing they'll be no more than $10 american which means they'll be able $15-20 NZ which is cool with me. I loved N64 games- some of them anyway- and it'll be great to download them and play them- espeically some multiplayer ones (Diddy kong racing anyone?) I also have some games to catch up on. Namely, the mario series, which I missed out on in the early stages.

This is important for me, because New Zealand is a very expensive country to live in. I need all the cash I can get, and the Wii is going to be cheap. Bummer on the lack of in-built harddrive space, but 512 MB's will be enough for me for quite some time, since I won't be downloading too much too soon (not rich enough). Its also got free online gameplay- which Microsoft doesn't have- and is cheap right off the bat- which the PS3 sure ain't. $1000 for a ps3? (Price here) No thank you. I'm going to be saying no to the ps3 for a couple of years, but will probably end up buying one eventually.

Intutive games

I'm really hoping it comes bundled with Wii sports. If so, I might take the plunge and actually buy some other controllers (will be hard on the wallet though, they'll cost at least $50 each) and give them out to my family. Then, we'll be able to hopefully play games together- something I've been dreaming of for ages.

Also hoping the Wii will have a microphone (long shot I know but hey I can hold out hope) so that they'll have a singing game like singstar- which is brilliant and my non-gaming friends/sister/parents would play that if it had non-nintendo songs and had licsenced songs (highly unlikely)

I'm also hoping this diet game will be good. Not that I need a diet, but I need exercise. I won't be able to play DDR anytime soon *cries* which is one thing I'm sad about with the wii, I want DDR bad. But anyway, I need something to fill the void- I'm hoping this will be good.

Basically, it all comes down to these factors: Clean games, Good games, affordability. Thats why I'm picking nintendo. I haven't been this excited over video games in.. well, I don't know how long. I WANT A WII. REALLY, REALLY BAD. I'm even setting aside $600- which is a huge amount for me O__O I NEED A WII. It has so many things like wiiconnect24 that will make the games great... ARGH NEED A WII.

Honestly, I would pick the X-Box 360 at this point.

The Nintendo Wii looks really cool, but I don't see that many good games being made for it. Yeah, they'll be lots of great 1st party stuff from Nintendo... but after that, it will just be gimmicks to go with the new controller and probably some lackluster 3rd party stuff (when compared with the 360 and PS3).

The Wii has a lot of cool gimmicks, but I'm not confident that will be enough. I'd consider this for a second console.

The PS3, of course, will have loads of games available. The only question is whether or not it's high price tag will significantly affect sales or not. Low sales would mean less good games in the future; they would end up on the 360 instead (possibly being ported over to the PS3 later, without taking full advantage of the PS3 hardware; much the same as many games were ported from the PS2 to the X-Box).

Currently, the 360 is my first choice. Every type of game that I want is available (mostly sports, with a few RPGs and GTA thrown in for kicks). The multimedia options are great, and X-Box Live is a big selling point (playing sports against an online opponent is much more fun than against a CPU opponent). Sony's online service might be good as well, but that is still an unknown. Plus, the X-Box 360 is substantially cheaper than the PS3. Why pay more money for something that does the same thing? I guess if you absolutely need to play the newest Metal Gear or Devil May Cry game, you might
spring for the PS3, but guess what?, Metal Gear might very well be available for the 360 in the future. Even if it isn't, there is still Splinter Cell. A couple of high profile games really don't make much difference to me (other than maybe GTA, but that is irrelevant in this case).



My order is this:

1. Microsoft X-Box 360

2. Nintendo Wii

3. Sony Playstation 3



To be sure, I'm happy with my Nintendo DS lite and my gaming PC (plus my laptop for travelling, and long stays in the W.C.!). I've also got a modded X-Box hooked up loaded with Media Center, a 200 GB hard drive, a FTP connection with my PC, and tons of other things. I really don't feel a need to buy any of the new systems for some time... if at all.

I guess that means that my first choice is actually the Wii, if only for the novalty. I still don't think I'll bother though.

I've been looking close at the Wii. I'm not into cartoonish games at all, but I did see a nice list of FPS. But frankly, nothing compares to the PC for gaming.

As far as next gen, I'll probably go with the Wii because of the price and the controller. I might look at getting a 360 Christmas 2007 depending on how many good RPGs come out for it.

By the time the PS3 is actually released, the price point for the 360 and Wii combined will be lower than that of Sony's entry. It's not going to be "which of the three will people buy?", it'll be "will people buy the PS3 or the Wii and 360?"

Most definitely the Nintendo Wii. I'm so excited about it!! I love it because of the price and the controller just seems like it can make gaming more fun.

Yeah I have a feeling your right about this one. My lil bro is wanting to get a 360 so he will bring it over when he comes to visit and then I will probably get a Wii. So I will have my bases covered on that at least.

In the end, I believe the Wii will sell the most units. Cheapest, most appealing, and promised huge library of games to download on nostaligia alone.

I have purchased the 360 already, purely because I'm a fan of the hardward and software respectively. The next gen of gaming will depend less on graphics and power and more on online play, and so far Microsoft has shown that when it comes to consoles, Xbox Live by far dominates the online gaming culture.

Nintendo did a poor job of that before, as did Sony, and they'll have to step up a bit to really get back into the race with solid online play and features if they want to stand a chance for favorites (though not sales).

Game wise, so far, again based on online capability, the 360 has the best line up. PS3 has a decent one, I'll admit, but all I see that people are excited for are sequels, and you can only reheat meat loaf so many times before people catch on. The Wii has some pretty nice games, but what I'm hearing is a lot of people are more excited that they get the entire past Nintendo games promised to them for download instead of being thrilled for next gen games. So game wise, 360 looks best.

There is no way to be sure until all consoles are out for a full solid year each, and the 360 is already going towards finishing up its first year; so we'll see if the running start keeps it in the lead - or pull back because it put too much steam into the starting break. PS3 will be seen to either rise or fall because of its high price tag and pricey tech for the blu-ray discs. The Wii...I have no worries for, lol. I see very little problems it could run into other than the Gamecube was highly over looked in the current gen of Xbox, PS2, and GC, so it may again come forth as the under dog and nothing more.

I no doubt am going to get the Wii.
Main reason, Nintendo always comes out with the best low violence games around. The console is not going to tear my wallet in half, inline capability, the new controller, (jedi battles anyone?), (Links master sword......).

I don't mind the Jedi Knight series in fact I think they are great I think what phatbowser was trying to say is that they didn't want the gore.

I know what he was trying to say. I just find it amusing that he's willing to laud Nintendo's low-violence trend as one of his reasons for purchasing the console in the same breath that he discusses looking forward to a series of games that has, historically, featured dismemberment fairly prominently. I know I certainly enjoyed the heck out of the ability to remove stormtroopers' arms from their bodies in Jedi Knight.

I'm sticking to 360. The Xbox live is great, and I really enjoy the gamer achivements, it just pushes you go a little longer. Though they don't have any functional use, they're just fun to collect.

The good thing about the Wii is that it has free online play(from what I read) and it'll have Call of Duty 3 also.
