  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'll be dead and in a better place, so I won't care. Just stick me in an old pine box and shove me in the dirt before the smell attracts all the cannibals.
*giggles uncontrollably* Sorry, I couldn't help it....that was wrong to laugh. But, that was sooo funny...I have such a morbid sense of humor it's horrible.

My funeral? It has been in my mind over the past two years as how things will be like at my funeral. I even thought of having a list of to-do list as to what I want it to happen when I passed away. Well, now, I don't really want to worry much but what I worry more is my relationship with God. After I've passed away, I will come face to face with the Lord and this scares me more than anything else. What will I tell Him when He ask me some questions? Down here on Earth, what I hope to happen on my funeral is, no fighting and let everything goes on smoothly and peacefully, rather than fighting among the family members as to where my body should go, what to do with it, etc. *sigh*

Why is body disposal and ceremonial stuff so important? Our spirits leave the flesh and if we believe in Jesus, then we're with him. The body is just a vessel, just a carcass. I understand that there were traditions in the OT, but is that something we need to really be too concerned with?

lol hey, might as well make it fun! I'm not really dead, so its another reason to have a party! I know i will be at my own funeral! It'll be fun!! Only thing is most people wont be able to see me as i will be a spirit. Hey its in the bible look it up. And many dead saints were seen in the city the day Jesus died!

What do you think would be said about you at your funeral?

What do you want people to say about you?

Absolutely nothing.

I do NOT want a funeral service. My preference is to be alive when Jesus comes back for us, so that I will not have to experience physical death.

If that Jesus doesn't return in my lifetime, then I I do NOT want a funeral or a memorial service of any kind. I am very adamant about this. My wish is to be cremated, and my ashes scattered over various places in the world.

Okay, if I know that I am dying I want to be able to pick out the most beautiful dress at a wedding gown shop. Seeing that I never got the chance to do the whole bride thing at least I would get the chance to experience it that way. Hey it is better then nothing!!!;)
Just like getting married. I would pick out my dress, the flowers that are to be at my funeral, pick out who I want to do my hair and the style that I want my hair to be. And pick out where I want to be barried at. I would write out what I would want my closest friend to say at my funeral:
My friends thank you for coming. Dry your eyes and know that I am on the BEST PERMANENT VACACTION better than ANYTHING IMAGINABLE....HEAVEN WITH THE BEST ONE EVER...JESUS CHRIST!!!

I'm with the person that said that they'd rather be alive when Jesus returns, but if not I'd like it to go something like this.

OK...First off...everyone dresses in hawaiian shirts, secondly, no one talks but me...   ...Yeh ME!!! I've been toying with the idea of making a video of me giving my own eulogy...I'd say something like this...

:preach: "HI! Hopefully you guys don't recognize me cuz I look a lot younger...but it really doesn't matter at this point does it? Anyway...STOP CRYING!!!
I just want to say a few things to you peeps...first off, if any of you actually caused my death  then don't worry about it, you're forgiven...ok, look, most of you here are Christians so you know where I am and you know that you'll wind up seeing me later, so don't cry for me...seriously! For you that aren't there are plenty of people here to tell you how you can windup seeing me again. Ok, now I want everyone to stand up...ok sit down...AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! Simon didn't say!" Anyway, make sure Helen dumps some of my ashes at Dodger Stadium and I don't care what happens to the rest of them...OK, I'm outta here...oh WAIT...one last thing...I wanna pray for all a you..."

Anyway...I don't want it to be all serious...

One pastor friend of mine gave me an interesting reason for a funeral:

A funeral is NOT for us; it's not meant to even honor us and our accomplishments. It's for our friends and family. Psychologically, when a loved one dies, we don't really believe that it happened. But a funeral provides closure, for when you see the body, you are sure that the person is gone from this world. It allows everyone to complete the death in their own minds. To deny them that funeral would be a very selfish thing.

It's corny, but I can't resist:

I want them to say: "Look, he's waking up!"

Okay, Now that is funny...LOL :D

What I would want everyone to say at my funeral. "Just say, she's HOME!" I want them to rejoice, not be sad. Because I went home to my Father's house!

I want my funeral to be a party for as other have said, its not a sad time for me. I'm happy and at home with my Father (I'm an organ donor to so my family knows that whatever part of me that can give life to someone else - TAKE IT!)

So although I'm sure there will be some tears, for the most part, I want people to be smiling and thinking of the good times we had and the good things we did together. I want music playing, people smiling and laughing, celebrating not only the good times in life we had on earth, but the LIFE I now have with my Father. :)

I do agree that memorial and funeral services are mainly for the living, and it can help survivors exit the first stage of grief. However, a funeral is not neccessary for survivors to move onto to the other stages of grief. In fact, even after a funeral has taken place we can still be in denial. After Princess Diana's funeral how many of us saw her picture on a magazine cover and said to ourselves-"she is really dead". How about President Regan :(

There are other ways to get out of denial. I do not believe that willing that you do not have a funeral or a memorial service is selfish at all.
