I am so glad to see this thread revived. I've been reading the new posts as they have come these past few days and thank you, raze, verses, kylef, and nml.

I don't "a" favorite, as probably most of you don't; it is all so good. :) But here I have one that is very real and pertinent in my life.

This scripture means so much to me, for the LORD heals me and puts new skin on me, taking cancer away.
clap.gif
And of course I am utterly dependent on the natural breath AND the life giving breath of His Spirit.

Ezekiel 37:5-6 God, the Master, told the dry bones, "Watch this: I'm bringing the breath of life to you and you'll come to life. I'll attach sinews to you, put meat on your bones, cover you with skin, and breathe life into you. You'll come alive and you'll realize that I am God!" MSG

The LORD has spoken this to my heart and I take it personally!

He has healed me, He has healed me!

The Lord is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Ps 34:18

I think so often when we get hurt in life especially if we have made mistakes it is easy to think God is the last person we can go to, but He is near to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. We can go to Him because He is near to those of us who are hurting.

In the New Testament also the Lord is described like this

A bruised reed He will not break, and a smouldering wick He will not snuff out
Matt 12:20

Thank you Lord for your faithfulness to us and your character that you are a deeply compassionate God and so gentle with us when we are hurting.

Matthew 6:25-34

The first time I read that in its entirety my husband and I were homeless, back in 1999. We were living and working in a private shelter (a gentleman and his wife started it themselves, which is what I mean by private; they took in anyone and everyone that the state either wouldn't or couldn't help, like us). They didn't have room for a couple, so we were put in their basement. I can still put myself back there: curled up in an old chair in the basement, wrapped in a blanket, doing my daily Bible reading that the pastor at the church we just started attending (and still are, BTW) gave to me. I read those words and felt like He had wrapped His arms around me and were saying them to ME personally.

I even wrote a song about that particular piece of scripture.

Revelation 21:1-9

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" Then he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true."
He said to me: "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life. He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son. But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death."

I love this Word best, for it speaks of the completion of The New and the getting rid of the old - such simply seems to good to be true when stuck with bad life - and yet He is, and was and certainly will be - isn't eternity mint?

I'll never get enough of Him and I'm so glad He got rid of my crap.

Hallelujah all Praise to The Lamb of God!:clap::clap:

Good verse...but why is it significant to you?

(P.S. that IS Sailor Moon in your avi, isn't it? I LOVE SM!)

When I first started following Christ it was like finding gold nuggets in the word of God, each leading toa glorious revelation of the Risen Lord who's path I was following. :sorry: I forgot to include the reason it means so much. When I stop searching and hungering I know that I'll be very poor.
Yes, that is SM :)

Here's one that's very "alive" to me right now.

Proverbs 11:25 The generous man will be prosperous,
And he who waters will himself be watered.

I find the truth of this. When I look on other's needs and care for them, I am somehow always taken care of. This means in any way - financial, emotional, or in practical ways such as acts of service, ie. making a meal, helping with a task...:)

Daniel 7:13-14

"In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all peoples, nations and men of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.

Five Goats Ruling!

Oh you he-goats are so strong and cruel
To slaughter and devour is your will
What kingdoms of destruction to rule?
Making the rest of us pay your bills! (Daniel 7:1)

Let's name a few of you kings by name
I want to be sure that everyone knows!
for you are unfaithful to our life time and again.
always denying The Truth when the [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] crows!(Matt 25)

Yes you - lying tongue - so very brave
in the dark breeding shady parts within
dragging God's chosen down to their grave
death as reward for your voice of sin.(Daniel 7:4)

Loveless voice - what an abomination
entering our soul through Satan's lies
The chosen suffering extermination
as cold-heartedness our conscious fries.(Daniel7:5)

Greed eye - you have our good times lost
All you get your hands on is history
those compelling demands as cost..
...such loudly wailing misery!(Daniel 7:6)

And so - The Dragon - comes in play
ruling mind controlled by The Accuser
Babylon captivating lawless sway
rules and laws taxing the user.(Daniel 7:7)

(A lament; )

Oh - lawless unfaithful egocentricity!
arrogance and pride robbing control
proclaiming godhead and divinity
burning good life right out of our soul.(Daniel 7:8)

(Conclusion; )

Yet the rule of goats will not last!
Kingdom Come - goats reign demise!
for when the final king dies the past..
...judgement cuts down those ugly ties.(Daniel 7:9-12)

For behold when Christ says "Hi!"
His Light of Day sinfulness demise
those unruly goats will surely fry
when Christ denies them paradise.(Daniel 7:13-14)

I like reading about what Wisdom is

Proverbs 8

Listen to Wisdom

1 Wisdom calls to you like someone shouting;
understanding raises her voice.
2 On the hilltops along the road
and at the crossroads, she stands calling.
3 Beside the city gates,
at the entrances into the city, she calls out:
4 "Listen, everyone, I'm calling out to you;
I am shouting to all people.
5 You who are uneducated, seek wisdom.
You who are foolish, get understanding.
6 Listen, because I have important things to say,
and what I tell you is right.
7 What I say is true,
I refuse to speak evil.
8 Everything I say is honest;
nothing I say is crooked or false.
9 People with good sense know what I say is true;
and those with knowledge know my words are right.
10 Choose my teachings instead of silver,
and knowledge rather than the finest gold.
11 Wisdom is more precious than rubies.
Nothing you could want is equal to it.

12 "I am wisdom, and I have good judgment.
I also have knowledge and good sense.
13 If you respect the Lord, you will also hate evil.
I hate pride and bragging,
evil ways and lies.
14 I have good sense and advice,
and I have understanding and power.
15 I help kings to govern
and rulers to make fair laws.
16 Princes use me to lead,
and so do all important people who judge fairly.
17 I love those who love me,
and those who seek me find me.
18 Riches and honor are mine to give.
So are wealth and lasting success.
19 What I give is better than the finest gold,
better than the purest silver.
20 I do what is right
and follow the path of justice.
21 I give wealth to those who love me,
filling their houses with treasures.

22 "I, wisdom, was with the Lord when he began his work,
long before he made anything else.
23 I was created in the very beginning,
even before the world began.
24 I was born before there were oceans,
or springs overflowing with water,
25 before the hills were there,
before the mountains were put in place.
26 God had not made the earth or fields,
not even the first dust of the earth.
27 I was there when God put the skies in place,
when he stretched the horizon over the oceans,
28 when he made the clouds above
and put the deep underground springs in place.
29 I was there when he ordered the sea
not to go beyond the borders he had set.
I was there when he laid the earth's foundation.
30 I was like a child by his side.
I was delighted every day,
enjoying his presence all the time,
31 enjoying the whole world,
and delighted with all its people.

32 "Now, my children, listen to me,
because those who follow my ways are happy.
33 Listen to my teaching, and you will be wise;
do not ignore it.
34 Happy are those who listen to me,
watching at my door every day,
waiting at my open doorway.
35 Those who find me find life,
and the Lord will be pleased with them.
36 Those who do not find me hurt themselves.
Those who hate me love death."

"The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing." ~Zephaniah 3:17

He rejoices over us! He SINGS over us! An over-joyed Abba!! Can you IMAGINE that? Isn't THAT what it's all about? To be in His PRESENCE and see Him rejoice over us with singing? To see His FACE?

Hi All,
I have been trying to find a thread that spoke about scripture not in a theological way but in a personal way...I am new to the forums so I might be overlooking it. I would like this thread to be about your favorite scripture and what it speaks to you. How does it touch your heart? What does it say to your spirit? How do you grow by remembering it? If you have more than one, then please post the ones you love.

This is NOT a thread to discuss theology or to tell someone they are wrong in how it speaks to them, but a thread to share out joy for God and how we grow based on His word!

Enjoy and share!

The flasme of Jah reminds me of the Holy Spirit upon the new creation at Pentecost.
The Darby translation shows how often it's used in Psalms

Song of Solomon 8:5-7 (Darby Translation)

5Who is this that cometh up from the wilderness, Leaning upon her beloved? I awoke thee under the apple-tree: There thy mother brought thee forth; There she brought thee forth [that] bore thee.
6Set me as a seal upon thy heart, As a seal upon thine arm: For love is strong as death; Jealousy is cruel as Sheol: The flashes thereof are flashes of fire, Flames of Jah. 7Many waters cannot quench love, Neither do the floods drown it: Even if a man gave all the substance of his house for love, It would utterly be contemned.

SR.

They are great scriptures! I am always amazed by how many priceless gems there are in scripture.

Right now, this one is speaking to me:

Isaiah 40:3-5

Prepare the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be exalted, every mountain and hill brought low; the crooked places shall be made straight and the rough places smooth; the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.

John 10:10The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).

This is one of my favorites because it clearly reveals how good Jesus is, and how bad the devil is. So often I see Christians being confused about who is good and who is bad. They attribute destruction in their lives to "God trying to teach them something." Not everybody, but some.

If it destroys, it is the devil.

Jesus came to bring life and life more abundant. That's what He said about His purpose. In Hebrews it goes on to say that Jesus is the express image of God. Jesus also said, "If you have seen Me you have seen the Father."

God is good! Completely good!

“Be still, and know that I am God” ~Psalm 46:10

This verse reminds me that all of my flailing and wailing, is of no avail.....i find His strength in being still before Him and "knowing" He is God.

It works hand-in-hand with this one:

"..in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength;" ~Isaiah 30:15

As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed, saith the LORD, from henceforth and for ever. <-----> Isaiah 59:21

This one tells of being told with fresh fulfillment, over and over, again and again, world without end !

For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly father will also forgive you
Matthew 6:14 (American Standard Version)

I really do adore the entire book of Matthew though. And second would be John. They both are filled with such hope.

I also will forever love Psalm 117 (King James Version)
O praise the Lord, all ye nations: praise him, all people.
For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the Lord endureth for ever.
Praise ye the Lord.

It's so simple but its message is so powerful to me
