By the YEC own doctrine, which you can read anywhere in this forum or in the other forum on the topic but open to all, we hear over and over again that if we do not read Genesis literally the same way they do, then we cannot believe any of the Bible and we cannot be Christians.
I hope you are either exagerating greatly, or you are just making this up, please provide a link to this "doctrine."

I made it clear in an earlier post what my stance on theistic evolutionists is.

*high-five* Hey there, glad to see ya. There are more YEC people on this site, but they won't post here because they see this thread as an opportunity for OEC and others to mock us in an open forum.
Mod hat on

ok people, any mocking here is a reportable post per rule #1

.:Forum Rule 1:.</FONT></B> Rule No. 1 - No "Flaming"

1) You will not post any messages that harass, insult, belittle, threaten or flame another member or guest. This will include misquoting another member out of context. You may discuss another member's beliefs but there will be no personal attacks on the member himself or herself. This includes implied accusations that another member is not a Christian.

If a YEC does not put forth evidence for their belief, and an OEC or theistic evolutionist calls them on it, it is not mocking. This forum is supposed to be about science, not twisted forms of logic that question the salvation of a brother or sister in Christ. Anyone questions the salvaton of another christian, you will be given a warning for violating rule #1

YEC- post and start threads as to why a literal interpretation of Genesis is necessary, and give the science to back it up

OEC and Theistic Evolutionists- post why a literal interpretation of Genesis is not necessary and give the science that shows an old earth and evolution

The flame wars and one upmanship will stop. You have been warned

Mod hat off

Any Theistic Evolutionist heard of a man by the name of Chuck Missler? Anyone have anything against him? Probably because he is one of the men that take the bible very literally. He is a very intelligent man and I'd have to agree with Chuck Missler on everything he says. He's the guy where I got the thing that whenever someone in the bible read the scriptures, they all took it very literally. For example, in the book of Daniel, Daniel goes into a looong fast with prayer where he is later interrupted by Gabriel. Why? He thought that the desolation of Jerusalem was to come. Gabriel later told him that it wasn't yet. See Daniel chapter 9 for more on this.

Also, when Jesus read from the book of Isaiah where it said in verse 18 of Luke, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed, to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord." verse 20, And He closed the book, gave it back to the attendant and sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on Him. verse 21 And He began to say to them, "Today this Scripture has been fulilled in your hearing." Jesus, I would say, took that verse very literally. ;)

Some verses are literal and some are not.

Example, Song of Solomon 4:1
Behold, thou [art] fair, my love; behold, thou [art] fair; thou [hast] doves' eyes within thy locks

Not too many people think she really had doves eyes in her locks.;) It's called allegory.

Okay, I know I don't take that literally. I mean seriously, when Jesus said to pluck you eye out if it causes you to sin, would anyone really do that? I would have to say no. There are some things in the bible that I wouldn't take that literally. The problem in when I'm debating Theistic Evolutionists, they make fun of me for taking the scriputres literally, like Genesis, and then I tell them why I take it literally, then they turn around and use something like the whole "plucking your eyes out" deal if you sin to be taken literally. That is rediculous because they know what I mean when I say I take the bible literally.

I understand what you mean. I guess they are trying to say, though, that if the plucking your eye out thing is allegory, than who is to say a lot of Genesis is not allegory too?

Yes, I would like someone to stand up and point out where in the Bible it says that the earth is the center of the universe. I don't believe anywhere that this is stated.
This was an early Roman Catholic belief.

God Bless
I'm right behind ya'. I would like some scriptures that say the earth is flat, not scriputures that can be taken to mean that the earth is flat. Is there a verse in the bible that says, "God caused the earth to be flat...."? No. Also, are there verses that say the earth is the very center of the universe? To God, the Earth very well might be the center of all creation. I'll be sure to ask Him when I die.
