Okay... but who or what preached that Jesus was the Messiah Isiah spoke about who would come and rise and destroy death and come again, all that good stuff before we had the full deposit of the bible...
I think you're misunderstanding something.
I'm sure it's lack on my part.

Anyhow, Word of God is Word of God,
Spoken, written, signed, it's still His Word.

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed
that a few of the threads are ending up
in some sort of contest about the Word
of God?

I think we all should go back to Bible 101
for a while, then come back and compare
notes to see if we learn anything lol.
I know every time I reread something,
(in the Bible) it's an 'aha' moment.
It often says say otherwise than
what most of us have been 'taught'
by 'men of God'.

Okay.. but I'm going on pope joey's premise here, if there was no NT and only the OT and for the first generation before the NT was floating around, before Paul was even knocked of his horse... not to mention 300 years before the NT it was even decided in a canon... what was it or who was it that preach Jesus is the Christ that Isiah told us about?

Answer: The Church.

It is hypocritical for any Evangelical to criticize repeated prayers, for they have ALL repeated prayers to God. Child sick? "Please, please, please Lord."
Wayward and difficult neighbor? Pray for him/her once, or at every occasion until things change.

Let's can the hypocrisy.

We can't.... for its a can of worms.

Hi Disasm!

You wrote: "Our Father, who art in Heaven
Hallowed be thy name
Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done
On Earth as it is in Heaven
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us
And lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from the evil one.

I'd be surprised to find a Christian that hasn't prayed this at least once."
(end quote)

I reply: I couldn't resist saying that I'd be not only surprised, but absolutely totally amazed to find ANY Christian praying that prayer who realized that it's asking Jesus to come and rule the Earth personally and
permanently in peace, justice and prosperity, which is the Lord's ultimate stated plan for Man!:
=================================
Rev 21:1-5 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle (dwelling place) of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

Rev 11:15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Isa 9:7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

2Sa 23:4 And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain.

(underlines, parentheses, bolding and color emphases are my own).
=================================

So yes, Let's all keep on praying "Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth." Only please realize WHAT we're actually praying for.

And the good news is that the Lord can bring His Kingdom in while we're all still alive, especially if we're really sick and tired of the constant heavy influence of the Prince of this World!

Best Blessings,
"Arph"

P.S. The New Jerusalem, The Holy City, is not bricks, mortar, buildings or even pearls, gates or golden streets. But it's God's people who love one another, all working together for the prosperity and blessing of everyone.
