  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You know you're an 80's child when/if...

Wow reading some of your responses bring back some great memories like the Luck dragon in Never-ending Story, like no Windows only MS-Dos, like Comodore 64, rollerblades taking over roller skates and glo worms, She-ra and so much more. I remember wearing square cut jackets and trousers that never really managed to hit my shoes!!!

Here are some things that remind me of the 80s.

1. When I tell younger people about my first game was pong. They look it up and ask if it had errors because all the see are two white lines and a white dot. ^_^

2. When I tell people how Chuck E Cheese scared me for life with its animatronic band. It still exists today but they don't realize robotics has come since then. Back then that band was scary.

3. When people say "I love my 4mb DSL connection!". Then I say "When I was a kid I had a 14.4k modem!". It really confuses them. Then to be cruel I tell them I now have a FIber Optic 12MB connection. :p

4. Having a remote for the tv or "rabbit ears".

5. Having arcades where everyone hung out.

6. When wrestling wasn't stupid (not that I was into it then really).

7. Only the rich had cell phones the size of a computer.

8. Book It was a popular program to encourage reading from Pizza Hut. As if kids know what books are today.

9. When we use to play outdoors and use our imaginations.

10. When we used phrases like "Anyone got any cheeeeese? (Urkel). Cowabunga (TMNT). Dude, Sup, Gnarly, Excellent, Psych.

You'd get super excited when a song you loved started playing on the radio and you hurry up to push "record."

She-Ra, My Little Pony, Rainbow Brite, Unico!

Toys and the outdoors were the best forms,--and heck, the ONLY forms-- of entertainment.

Feathered bangs and crimped hair were oh so hot.
