  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I found the words to the Gummi Bears song!

Dashing and daring
Courageous and caring
Faithful and friendly
With stories to share
All through the forest
They sing out in chorus
Marching along
As their song fills the air

CHORUS:
Gummi Bears
Bouncing here and there and everywhere
High adventure that's beyond compare
They are the Gummi Bears

Magic and mystery
Are part of their history
Along with the secret
Of gummiberry juice
Their legend is growing
They take pride in knowing
They'll fight for what's right
In whatever they do

CHORUS

(Repeat first verse)

CHORUS

Gummi Bears
When a friend's in danger they'll be there
Lives and legends that we all can share
They are the Gummi Bears
They are the Gummi Bears
They are the Gummi Bears!

lol :D

Though I grew up without a television and didnt attend public school nor was I subjected much to the trends or pop culture of society, the majority of this is extremely familiar to me! As far as the tv shows go, I pretty much saw all of them regularily as reruns in the 90's.

Who remembers Punky Brewster???? I LOVED THAT SHOW! It is so stupid...I sat down recently and watched one episode....really dumb! I feel sorry for my parents :D:D!!
LOL!!!! That's like my experience with He Man and She Ra.

Sometime back in high school I found episodes of He Man and She Ra that my mom had taped for me. I was SO excited, as I loved those shows as a little girl. I don't think I finished watching a full episode, and thought to myself, "I used to watch this?" It's VERY slow paced. Like a million times slower paced than kids shows now. Kids today would even be bored watching them. It felt like my brain was going in slow motion LOL!!! (nothing was wrong with the tape) ;)

But then again not all shows/movies are boring to watch today! I bought myself Ghostbusters one and two for my birthday last year  Shhhhhhhh!

Whenever I see any of those "You know you grew up in the xx's if..." I always think how old it makes those people seem because so much has changed but I never realised so much has changed in twenty years ^_^

Who remembers the Gummi Bears?

Heh, I remember Gummi Bears. It came right before Talespin, didn't it?

Remembering stuff from the early to mid 90s (SWAT Kats, anyone?)

Oh yeah, I remember SWAT Kats!

random old stuff:

Mathnet (cheers to anyone else who loved that show!)
Popples
The Cosby Show (still my fav show of all time)

All right, someone remembers Mathnet! That show was awesome. Almost makes me want to walk around flashing my math degree and saying "stop, I'm a mathematician!"

yeah I remember gummi bears, and ducktales and Tale Spin. All good stuff much better than what ever is on now.

FYI: most episodes of Gummi Bears can actually be found on YouTube. I'm pretty sure that you can find Ducktales and TaleSpin there too, but since I have every episode of both of those series, I've never checked.

So, any Super Mario fans out there? He had his own TV show too. He had three of them, in fact.

I found some more

You know you were a child of the 80s when.....

  1. [FONT=Tahoma, Arial, Helvetica]You never questioned why the A-Team were always imprisoned in places that had sufficient tools to build an armoured tank.
[*]Dungeons & Dragons was your favourite cartoon.
[*]Your lunch times were spent perfecting swan dives and backspins.
[*]You fell out with friends during heated arguments about the relative merits of Matt & Luke.
[*]You owned, or wanted a "Frankie says..." T-shirt.
[*]You have ever danced (or even worse cried) to Kylie & Jason.
[*]Cerise pink, electric blue and banana yellow have ever featured in your wardrobe or make-up collection.
[*]You ever did the top toggle of your coat up around your neck without having your arms in the sleeves, and knew you looked like a super-hero.
[*]You remember when the A-Ha video was the pinnacle of modern technology, and you can still sing all the words.
[*]Parachuting Action man was your favourite toy.
[*]Your best party dress was either a ra-ra or puff-ball skirt.
[*]You ever owned a thin, black leather tie (and were proud of it), or worse it was patterned like a piano.
[*]You wondered why a popular kids TV programme told you to "Turn off your TV set and go and do some less boring instead".
[*]You wanted to be either Nancy Drew or the Hardy Boys.
[*]You ever said "It's my ball, and if I can't be Kevin Keegan I'm going home!"
    [*]You remember the aerobie scare.
[*]You have ever po-goed or space-hopped.
[*]You remember when Keith Chegwin & Maggie Philbin were the hottest romantic couple.
[*]You wondered why your walkie-talkie didn't have the same range as those in the Red Hand Gang.
[*]You were shocked by the controversial plot lines in Degrassi Junior High.
[*]You tried to set up a "Famous Five" or "Secret Seven" gang with your school friends.
[*]You tried to convince your Dad to fit a strip of red lights on the front of his Capri so it looked like KITT.
[*]"Ca-vey Wa-vey!" means anything to you.
[*]You ever had more than 10 sweets in a 10p mix-up.
[*]Not only did you wear luminous clothing, but they were mismatched fingerless gloves and towelling socks.
[*]You remember when Betamax was at the cutting edge of technology.
[*]Conveyor belts regularly carried washing machines, deep-fat fryers and a cuddly toy.
[*]You could have got away with it if it hadn't been for those meddling kids.
[*](Girls) You owned a pair of Pixie Boots, generally worn with leg warmers.
[*](Boys) You owned a pair of pale grey slip-ons, generally worn with white towelling socks.
    [*]Shiny grey flecked suits.
[*]You rolled the sleeves of your suit jacket up
[*]Ooh, you could crush a Grape!
[*]You went to school with Pogo Patterson, Gripper Stebson, and Ro-land.
    [*]Fingermouse.
[*]You were proud of your picture appearing in the Gallery.
[*]You remember Look In magazine, and when it was only 20p
[*]You wondered why you and your mates never encountered diamond thieves whilst out on your BMXs.
    [*]No 73?
[*]You can remember what Quatro tasted like.
[*]Your best mate had a soda stream at home and you were jealous
Alot of these I can't relate to because SA didn't get everything that America did.

1, 14, 21, 22 I can relate to.

I loved the Super Mario game, never got the TV series' over here. I used to prefer Luigi though. His outfit before he got shooting power was nicer then Mario's.
Who got all the way to the end and clocked the dragon?
Did anybody else ever use the word 'clocked'?

I just looked on a 80's nostalgia website and one of the things mentioned that was specific to the 80's was apparently Choose-Your-Own-Adventure books. I never knew they were specifically from the 80's. I loved reading those but always finished them too quickly.
