Alpha Course

A pre-catechetical Christian Basics course run out of Holy Trinity Brompton by Rev Nicky Gumbel for the past c30 years. Hugely successful in bringing people to Christ from all over the world, with a basic formula of inviting people to eat with you, giving a talk, and allowing them to ask questions.

I've run Alpha several times, and found it could be a useful tool, not so much for attracting people who'd never encountered Christianity before, but for drawing back people who had wandered away.

I think it works best when you ditch the videos and present the conversation points yourself; it helps you to present in the way that connects best with your audience (and also tweak the content a bit as you see fit).

I must admit, though, after my last time through it last year, I decided that while it was probably the best thing of its kind when it launched, today there are other options which are better, and I don't think I'll use it again.
