Yikes, you guys have been having a throw down!
Come, let us reason together...........
It's interesting that this past year God has been pointing me to the story in Exodus and teaching me about trusting in Him for everything... the thread just popped up on my main page. (and I don't believe in coincidence)I have now.
Everything. Now we're using big words. Yah has been teaching me to trust him for everything for a very long time. I feel that I'm slow in learning that lesson. I still have my own thoughts; but I'm thankful for his patience with me.God has been pointing me to the story in Exodus and teaching me about trusting in Him for everything
Are you insulting me?Everything. Now we're using big words
Yet many places that translate to 'the name' do not include the article of 'ha'I see you either didn't read correctly or you do not know the meaning of "appellative." Do you even know what "Hashem" means? It has nothing to do with Hasmonean deities. I'll give you a hint "Ha" is the definite article in Hebrew. It corresponds to our "the."
I think here it refers to someone or someones that have made a name for themselves.Do you? It's about the worst thing that you could call our heavenly father.
Let's look to Yah's word, instead of the doctrine of men.
(CLV) Gn 6:4
As for the distinguished, they were on earth in those days and also afterward, when the sons of the elohim were coming to the daughters of the human, and they bore them offspring. They were the masterful ones, who were from the eon, mortals of renown (השם).
It seems there's some talk on Youtube of this being a pagan deity.I assume by your answer you have no idea what "Hashem" means. It certainly does not refer to the men of renown in Gen 6:4. By your reasoning maybe we should not refer to God as Father, since Jesus used father to refer to the devil or Lord since Lord is used to refer to others.
My understanding is that it came about in Germany about 1,000 years ago in the galut.Oy vey! No it isn't! You know nothing about Hebrew if you think that...there was no such thing as Yiddish 2000 years ago...
This doesn't really state whose name, does it?What on earth are you talking about? HaShem is "The Name"...
What about YeHo?
Y - EY (EE)
H - AH
W - UW (OO)
EEAHOO!
Not at all.Are you insulting me?
Yah has taught me some amazing lessons. One of them is that whatever I put between he and me, is what separates me from him. He wants the same commitment from me, that he gives to me. A thought that I have taken for myself, is a thought that I have taken away from him. He wants my full attention.I never said I had perfect obedience down-pat, nor did I say I could do-so without his help...
I'm also grateful for his patience with me.
Yes, he was showing me my idols this past year amongst other things...he does want our full attentionNot at all.

Wrong again. I don't speak that dialect of corrupted Hebrew.
What sources?
I used to search almost exclusively on Yahoo; because I thought that they were giving honor to our creator, I have since stopped. You know what's always bothered me? The entity that calls itself 'YAHOO!'
I think it's supposed to be a derivative of something like a redneck, 'Yeehaw' but then that is a bit too
similar for me as well. What do you guys think?
Google translate says Yehowah Ellaֽich lolיְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶֽיךָ׃
Context ;-)Yet many places that translate to 'the name' do not include the article of 'ha'
View attachment 325688 Just 'Shem'. That comes from Leviticus 24:16 Whoever blasphemes the name of the LORD must to be put to death;
I think here it refers to someone or someones that have made a name for themselves.

The Hebrew word הַשֵּׁם֙ hashem is found in a few places.
The Genesis 6:4 account of course but also here
Ezekiel 22:5 - speaking of an ill repute name
Maybe it's the enemy's way of throwing people off the trailI used to search almost exclusively on Yahoo; because I thought that they were giving honor to our creator, I have since stopped.
I think that they know exactly what they are doing. I feel the same way about Starbucks. The mind games are all around us. It's everywhere.
Assumptions don't prove anything.Yeah you speak your made up Hebrew. You are the one who used Strongs or whatever that was as your source...and even that proved my point!
ד הַנְּפִלִים הָיוּ בָאָרֶץ, בַּיָּמִים הָהֵם, וְגַם אַחֲרֵי-כֵן אֲשֶׁר יָבֹאוּ בְּנֵי הָאֱלֹהִים אֶל-בְּנוֹת הָאָדָם, וְיָלְדוּ לָהֶם: הֵמָּה הַגִּבֹּרִים אֲשֶׁר מֵעוֹלָם, אַנְשֵׁי הַשֵּׁם. {פ} | 4 The Nephilim were in the earth in those days, and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bore children to them; the same were the mighty men that were of old, the men of renown. {P} |
That's weird. H8034 came up with one reference the first time I did a search. The Hebrew word הַשֵּׁם֙ hashem is found in a few places.
The Genesis 6:4 account of course but also here
Ezekiel 22:5 - speaking of an ill repute name
The American exclamation "Yahoo" came along a bunch of centuries after the name of the creator was revealed. That is no reason to avoid using "Yahu."You know what's always bothered me? The entity that calls itself 'YAHOO!'
I think it's supposed to be a derivative of something like a redneck, 'Yeehaw' but then that is a bit too
similar for me as well. What do you guys think?
I don't see where that's funny. That part should read, your God.Google translate says Yehowah Ellaֽich lol
Yes, I thought so too, ironically?Context ;-)
what did you think about that one from Lev 2:11?That's weird. H8034 came up with one reference the first time I did a search.
Now I get 9 results.
The 'misconstruedness' would bother me.The American exclamation "Yahoo" came along a bunch of centuries after the name of the creator was revealed. That is no reason to avoid using "Yahu."
The fact that some scholars chose to translate hashem as "men of renown" does not in and of itself make them Pharisees. Besides which Hshm in the Hebrew translation is not pointed for "Hashem". The vowel points in Hebrew are "Ha" as in hat NOT Hah and "shem" not pronounced as "shehm" as in Hashem reference to God. Just sayin'.Assumptions don't prove anything.
I don't use Strong's a a source. All that Strong did was told us how King James and crew mistranslated scripture.
I provided the Strong's numbers for your convenience as points of reference to the actual scripture. I'm still waiting for you to explain why the Masoretes blotted out the WAW from Messiah's name, that can be plainly seen in 4Q47. What rule of Modern Hebrew dictates the we alter Yah's word?
Why do these modern day Pharisees mistranslate the word Hashem, in Gen 6:4?
ד הַנְּפִלִים הָיוּ בָאָרֶץ, בַּיָּמִים הָהֵם, וְגַם אַחֲרֵי-כֵן אֲשֶׁר יָבֹאוּ בְּנֵי הָאֱלֹהִים אֶל-בְּנוֹת הָאָדָם, וְיָלְדוּ לָהֶם: הֵמָּה הַגִּבֹּרִים אֲשֶׁר מֵעוֹלָם, אַנְשֵׁי הַשֵּׁם. {פ} 4 The Nephilim were in the earth in those days, and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bore children to them; the same were the mighty men that were of old, the men of renown. {P}
