"Well, I'm feeling lucky. Here's what we do. Angel, you can be lookout for this plan. Shadow, with your ability to change into any small animal, you need to infiltrate the office, and get the plans of the building. Meanwhile, we find a disguise for you to get that close. I slow down time during the plan, you go in, get them, memorize them, whatever, then come back, change back, get into the disguise again, and I resume time. Simple?"

Ian "Glance" Smythe chuckled to himself, as he stood just around the corner. An escape attempt. Probably the thirty-sixth he'd seen tried in this place. He'd been involved in four of them, but no one knew that -- most everyone else involved either ended up being transferred to somewhere no one knew about... or didn't come back to tell the tale. Finally deciding it'd be safe to do so, he stepped out of his hiding place.
"Or MAYbe you shouldn't even be planning any lame escape attempts in the first place."
Twitch turned around, and rolled his eyes, grimacing. "Ian."
"Don't look so excited to see me, Twitch. Though I have to admit, I'm surprised to be seeing behavior THIS stupid, even coming from you. Two escape attempts from the MTC on the same day? You're going to earn this place seriously bad publicity. That is, if the outside world, for the large part, really even knew it existed."
"Who is this?" Angel asked, eyes narrowing, as Shadow's muscles instinctively tensed.
"The guy who rats everyone out, and has botched a good half-dozen escape plans by other well-meaning mutants."
"Hey, I just don't see the point of leaving. What's so good about things out there? Here, at least we get to train in our powers. We get to be with others like us. No one can persecute us because we're different... though some of us end up getting persecuted anyway. I don't know why I'm even telling you this in the first place," he growled. "You're all going to be in serious trouble."
"Oh yeah? We can outdistance you without even working up a sweat."
"Oh, yes... your charming time-warp power. That'd work WONDERS, that is... unless I used my freeze-vision on you." His eyes started to turn an eerie shade of blue.
Angel looked confused, but Twitch stepped in front of her. "What do you want, you traitor?"
Glance seemed to ponder this, and then looked up to his right, blinking at a point in space. A yellow bolt of light zipped from his parting lids, and then he turned back to the others.
"If you're getting out of here, I want to go with you."
"What?! But you just said -- "
"That was just for the camera. If I'm caught, I don't want to be hung out to dry like the lot of you will."
"I don't trust him," Twitch said adamantly.
"Do you have a choice?"

I know this hasn't been posted on in a while, but I had to try. I'll try to work Leif, Myra, Joseph, and Outsider into this as well, as we go along. Oh yeah, and I'm new. I don't know how to post links to other threads, but you can check out my character's bio in the Character section.

Ian smirked again, this time at Shadow. "A wise decision. At least one of you has some sense."
"Just keeping pushing, you..." Twitch began, but stopped himself in mid-sentence, muttering a low, "He isn't worth it."
Ian chuckled. "Of course, I am. Now, come on, let's enact this foolhardy plan of yours. Anyone else planning on joining us for our excursion?"
"We've got to reconnect with Leif and Myra," Angel explained.
Ian raised an eyebrow. "The OTHER new girl?"
"Yeah, my roommate," Angel replied, nodding.
He gave an odd look, and then said, "Why don't you and I try to locate them. You two can get the layout, like you previously suggested."
"Angel can go with Shadow. I'm not letting you out of my sight," Twitch said.
"Suit yourself," Ian said cockily, winking at Angel over Twitch's shoulder.

The pairs split ways, as Ian decisively led the way, his short stature not inhibiting the large strides he took, while Twitch jogged behind him and kept a wary eye on his every movement. "Do you have any idea where they migth've gone? Did Angel tell you anything?"
"Why, so you can relay it to your superiors?"
"Superiors? Twitch, I know you can play the tough guy act pretty well, but I'm telling the truth."
"Uh huh. Honesty's always really been at the top of the virtues I've seen you use," he scoffed sarcastically.
"Believe what you want, but I -- " Ian started, and then turned his head. "Someone's coming."
"I can slow them dow--"
"HEY!" one of the black-suited men shouted as he rounded the corner.
In a second, Glance's eyes turned a brilliant, icy blue, as he caused Twitch to freeze in place, arms held up in a fighting stance.
"You got here just in time!" Ian exclaimed. "It's one of the guys that was trying to escape! When I tried to convince him not to leave, he almost attacked me!"
"Well done, Smythe," the agent gave him a thin-lipped smile.
"I'll wait with him here while you get some reinforcements. I don't know how long I'll be able to hold him."
The agent nodded, and then began to run past him, down the hall. The effects of Ian's freeze-vision were short-lived this time, as Twitch began to quiver back out of his paralysis, a bit too soon.
"You little -- I know we shouldn't have trusted -- "
"HALT!" the agent commanded, not having gotten far enough out of earshot, and pulling out his nullifier.
Ian's eyes flared yellow, and an energy beam of the same color ricocheted off the agent's nullifier, and then struck the communicator he was reaching for.
"You were saying?" Ian asked, grinning at Twitch, who took the opportunity to leap into action and knock out the agent (who was still dazed and momentarily blinded by the light blast) with a couple of well-placed punches.
Quickly, the pair pulled him into a nearby supply closet, using the agent's keys, and then grabbed the communicator for their own use, along with a key card. "This will probably come in handy," Ian suggested, as Twitch swiped it out of his hand.
"Don't think that stunt back there totally gets you off my radar," Twitch warned.
"Oh, I wouldn't dream about it. Now, come on. You and I both know it's only a matter of time until he wakes up."

Ian ran at a breakneck pace down the hall, Outsider and her friend Joseph behind him. He eyes passed over the two of them as he shot a look over his shoulder. Outsider he knew well enough, and from what Twitch had told him, she was a person that could be trusted. They'd managed to hook up with Leif, Myra, and Blades earlier, but had gotten separated when another pair of agents had come after them. One had managed to get in a partial transmission on their communicator, and thus, they knew that they weren't in a safe position.
Though he wasn't the type to normally or necessarily care for the well-being of others, Ian couldn't help but wonder how Twitch and the others were faring. Hopefully better than they were. They were being watched, and Glance knew it. Already, they'd had a close call, and if it hadn't been for Outsider's electrical bolts that scrambled the circuitry, the automated defenses would've already ensnared them.
They neared the end of a corridor, and found themselves momentarily stuck. "Hey, it's okay. I still have the -- " He would've said key card, but remembered that he didn't have that anymore. "Twitch."
"What?" Joseph asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Nothing. Just gimme a sec. You're pretty much useless in this situation anyway, Joseph, so you guard our backs, Outsider."
"HEY!" Joseph exclaimed.
"Why don't you take a look at your own fear with your emotion-sensing prowess, and leave me to do what I do best."
"Which is being a jerk?" Joseph suggested under his breath.
"I second that," Outsider agreed, shooting Joseph a beaming smile, which reflected none of the nervousness that may have lied beneath the surface.
Ian concentrated, his eyes become a glassy, milky white as he scanned the walls and doors, hoping to find something of interest. Finally, looking up, he saw what he had hoped for. "Ethan Hunt, eat your heart out," he muttered, remembering a scene from the Mission: Impossible movie. "Maybe you can be useful after all. Give me a boost?" he asked.
"Huh?"
"Do I have to spell it out for you? Let me get on your shoulders."
"I don't see any -- "Joseph started as he raised him up to the ceiling.
"Voila. X-Ray vision sure proves handy when looking for secret ventilation shafts," he noted, pushing aside a panel. "Now, c'mon. From my scanning, we should be able to get our way back to Angel & Shadow -- I think they said to meet them back at Angel's room -- that is, assuming the agents aren't already looking for them there."
"They can handle themselves," Joseph assured him, as Ian pulled him up after him, and then the two hoisted Outsider behind them. The trio crawled as quietly as possible through the tunnel, which was no easy task considering the fact that the surface of every wall was semi-flimsy metal.

Thankfully, however, they managed to get through without incident, and, after double-checking the hall, Ian dropped through another panel, and rapped lightly on Angel's door. Her pale face appeared at the entrance, and he could see Shadow, crouched behind her, ready to strike.
"Oh, thank goodness, it's only you..."
"That's probably the first time someone's been actually happy to see me at this place," Ian noted glibly.
"Where are the others?" Shadow asked.
"Twitch and I got separated, but I hooked up with these two. With any luck... scratch that, a major dose of luck, he hasn't gotten himself, and/or Leif and Myra apprehended yet and we should be able to get our ticket out of here within the next few minutes -- we don't have a whole lot of time."
"Since when do we ever?" Shadow asked, as the group impatiently and anxiously awaited the return of their fellow mutants.
