  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Church was great.. we had a guest homily/sermon by a parishioner which is kinda neat, I didn't know we could do that!

It was good, I wasn't 100% sure for the first few minutes where he wanted to take that sermon, it was a little confusing to start off and he was pretty nervous in the beginning as well -- but then he was like BAM! and pulled it all together, and I was like "Hey, that's actually a GREAT point!"

It's not every day I hear a sermon with the words "protoplasm" and "evolution" in it (.. used in a positive light, haha). Ironically, he tied all that in to a sermon on how we should view and handle sin -- I kid you not. And he did a great job! Need to find this guy's email address because he definitely deserves a pat on the back.

I should have an mp3 of the sermon in the near future, our priest handed him the recorder I noticed, so I want to transcript it when it comes (just because I found it interesting) -- toward the end of the week I think. The mp3 usually goes out with the next Sunday bulletin.

It was a little rough around the edges, but it was still good. I don't want to kill what he was trying to say though trying to sum it up from memory, I actually really want to hear it again so I can re-listen (admittedly I drifted a bit interest-wise during the first bit of it because I found he was struggling a bit to get it going, and then the end really reeled me in so now I need to listen to the whole thing once more, LOL)

I've been taking some environmental classes, one to fulfill my last science gen. ed. requirement and one social science class. I find the topic very interesting and am considering proposing, to the history dept chair, that I do an independant study class next semester on history of the environment or history of environmentalism or a combo of the two. I'm a history major so combining those two interests sounds like it could make for an interesting class. This university is very focused on environmentalism (has the nickname Eco U), so maybe I'll even inspire them to add a new history/environmental class.

I've just started a story I hope to turn into a full-fledged book, inspired heavily by Silent Hill (the games and movie).

On a sad note, one of my coworkers was hit by a car on her way across the street from our drive-thru building to the main lobby... she's alive and miraculously no head trauma, but she'll be understandably absent from work for a few days.

This is more of a rant really... But I'm confused. Why do people post here if they are not actually Liberal / Progressive Christians?

I mean, we have forums for Moderates, Conservatives, and Fundamentalists. We also have a whole ton of forums where everyone can post together. There is no shortage on forums, right?

I can totally understand how some people might like to build bridges between liberalism and conservatism too but, we have a forum for that! It's even called Bridge Builders, LOL :D

I would never in a million years go into the Moderate/Conservative/Fundie area and give advice to the members there. It's not my place, ya know?

I'm honestly very confused  Just rambling...

I would never go into a Conservative forum either, but I think that maybe some people just think that what they believe is so true and important, that they should convince all of those who must just be confused or misguided. I find it kind of annoying and it's one of the reasons that I don't post that much in this forum. I have the Singles forum if I want to argue with people :D
