  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I think it's good. God hears your heart no matter if you are speaking, or saying in your mind, or writting it down. I actually like writting prayers down because then I can go back later and read them and see how God worked in that situation. So I think there is nothing wrong with it. David wrote down his prayers.

I couldn't say it any better. In fact, writing out my prayers is one of the things I have been trying to do more, partly for the reasons Mina gave, and also because I can sometimes organize my thoughts better when I write them out.

I think the only situation that might not be too good is if you only wrote your prayers and never "spoke" them, whether out loud or "in your heart". But even then, I'm not sure if I would say that is wrong. I'd have to think about it for a while.

I find that when I'm keeping a prayer journal, my walk with God seems so much closer. Sometimes when I just pray without writing, I find that I jump from one prayer to another and don't spend a lot of time really deeply praying. When I write it down it really seems like it just flows out so much more smoothly and sometimes I can even seem to get a better idea of God's response to my prayers (I know it sounds strange, but true). Plus, I love having them written down to I can go back when a prayer is answered and mark it in my journal with a date answered, etc. I think writing in a prayer journal can be very powerful.

That's how I feel. I don't start day dreaming in the middle of the prayer that way.
but the Lord wants you to also talk to Him with words. Why don't you talk to Him in words?
I do talk to Him in words as well. But durning my regular devotion time I also write in the journal.
Thanks everyone. This has really helped.

My prayer journal is all about writing out my thoughts and concerns to God in a way that will last and in a way that solidifies what is going on inside of me. It focuses me, too. I highly recommend writing to God! Communicate with him any way you can! He is certainly not limited in his communication. He is in pillars of smoke, flames, a whisper in the night...

I write prayers all the time and its definately not wrong or bring you farther from GOd, it will probably bring you closer as it has in my experience  For a while I'd write one every night before I prayed verbally before bed and I'd read outloud the one from the night before, like praying the psalms kinda. GOD bless you KEEP IT UP.
