  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I would encourage you to take the class. Writing can be a challenge, but a good one. I went back to college as an adult and got a degree in writing. Having the input and the stimulation from professors and other students was great. It truly helped me to grow as a writer. Just remember to commit it to the Lord, do it as unto the Lord. If they want you to write about something ungodly, know that you don't have to do that. Write where He guides you, and enjoy the process!

Depending on the teacher you get when taking a Creative Writing class, it can be fun.

My creative writing teacher was amazing, I learned more with her then I did within years of taking any sort of English class. She would write a word or a sentence on the board, and tell us to write a poem, short story or a song using that line or word, and after fifteen minutes, we write a word or a line from whatever we wrote and we would write a story or a paragraph with what other people wrote.

It was amazing.

Take a creative writing class, you might like it and you will be able to become a better writer.

It can either be a really good experience, or a really horrible one. I've had both with creative writing classes. I took one in high school because I love to write and because I needed another class to fill up my schedule. It was honestly the worst class I've ever taken. I don't think our teacher knew what she was talking about.

The other experience I had was a really good one. It was a class that was half poetry, half fiction and one of my friends who was an English major told me to take it. Though it quickly became apparent that I am very bad at poetry, I actually learned a lot and it got to the point where my poetry actually resembled poetry (rather than a story or explanation with strange line breaks) and even my fiction (which I've been writing as long as I can remember) got better.

Never taken a course, but can you tap into your soul? Can you paint images and visions with your words? If you can, continue down that route. Think like a child. Let your imagination free. Close your eyes, listen to music that inspires you, and type like you never typed before.

I'm an online professor of several courses in several states for several years. I've seen students lose his or her zeal for a subject because of the rigidity. My point in all this, you don't want to put borders on your talent or imagination. Write from your soul. After all, it's art, not science.
