As I was reading "The Orthodox Church" last night, I read about St. Seraphim. If that's what theosis is, I want it!

Seriously, one of the most attractive things to me about Orthodoxy is its acceptance of the mystical as a part of Christian life--it doesn't seem to be just for monks.

What do y'all think about the presence of mysticism in Orthodoxy? What has been your experience with it?

Hi!
I think it makes the most sense...mystical doesn't necessarily mean "out on a broken limb"....
I think it is impossible to seperate God from the mystical and it makes the faith complete. The Bible itself is full of mystical people and implications. (I love the OT prophets.)
I know that I am probably not hte best person to answer but since converting, I have had more 'mystical' insights in my prayer life than ever before. Don't worry: I'm not seeing God or getting "messages" or anything, but I see things in a way I know I could not do on my own ...that I don't have the intellect to see on my own...it can only be Grace !!!! I'm not smart enough!
