I must be very lucky, I don't get that from my grandparents.

Wait. Maybe not lucky. Maybe they also know I'm going to be single forever.

lol grandparents are just awesome sometimes. you know I went there for her 90th, and she told me very matter-of-factly that she expected to see me, my husband and my "brood of kids"(her words) to come and visit her on her 100th. I asked her how she knew I was going to get married and she just smiled and told me, 'oh its in the cards for you!'

Lack of uninhibited physical intimacy. Emotional intimacy can be there when you're single, but I find myself longing for more physical intimacy. In due time...

What do you think is the worst thing about being single?

It becomes your identity. Likewise, if you get married. For singles though, it has become a negative thing, something that must be "fixed." There is something wrong with you if you're single and in your 40's/50's/60's/etc. Especially if you're a 40-yr old virgin, God help you.

I think if that's the case, single people should take ownership of that identity and make it something positive. It is erroneous to think that all single people are self-absorbed when I know people who have volunteered their time and their lives to amazing causes that they would not have been able to do so easily if they were not single. Take ownership over being selective and having standards and not being easily-swayed into thinking you have to settle for far less than what you need in a partner. (What you want may not always come in the form you expect it to though)
