As for secular bands I would have to say the White Stripes. Music is suppposed to sound pleasing on some levels at least right? To me their music and lyrics all sound like a jumbled mess.

As for Christian bands I would have to go with the consensus and say the boy bands. The image for secular boy bands is pretty much lust and gaining the praises of teenage girls. I don't see much room for that in the Christian industry. Also in my opinion it takes more than a good singing voice to be classified as an musical artist. I think one should know how to play some form of instrument even if it's the spoons.

But hey if God ministers to anyone through their songs, then I say listen to it.

I would say Linkin Parks Reanimation and Meteora have really negative lyrics, so they would be the worst cd's going by lyrics

Amy Grant left her husband and NEVER REPENTED - she actually believes she did nothing wrong. Anytime I hear her singing any Christian song, it makes me gag.

So that no one misunderstands me, it is not the fact that she sinned that makes me gag (we have all fallen short of the glory). It is the fact that she is so brazen about not thinking she did anything wrong.

There's something wrong if a Christian isn't convicted of her sin.

You are mistaken.
She fell into sin with her agent. Her husband found out and divorced her as quirtly as he could (didn't mention why) and took heat for it. She claims to have repented. No one can say she didn't, but marrying her agent was wrong. Since I believe Christian music is a ministry,and those in ministry are called upon to live above reproch, I don't believe she should continue in it and don't buy her CD's.
True she did wrong and compounded it when she remarried, but we can't judge weather her repentance was honest.

Ok, there's saying what your taste in music is, then there's being judgemental pricks like Jai was talking about. How about you all lay off the Amy Grant subject and just stick to saying what bands you dislike.

Me, I dislike happy-go-lucky, life is all peaches and sunshine type bands. Give me a healthy dose of aggression and angst. Kidding about the angst but I do prefer aggresive music It's for that reason I stopped listening to Relient K, even though their lyrics are amusing. They still remain on my liked bands list though as how can you not like a band whose first hit song was about Marilyn Manson eating their girlfriend?

Well I'm judging on musical talent for this and voice. I'd say Avril Lavigne and Evanescence are very close to being tied. Neither of them can sing very good. The studio alters their voices a lot to make them sound good. It's a disappiontment to see them live on TV singing. If I go into the Christian Bands ... I don't like Jump 5 or POD.

To ya'll that are dissing boy bands.... I dont exactly love the music and such, but TrueVibe, PlusOne, and Jump5 do have *wonderful* lyrics.... the style of music is meant to be the way it is. If you dont like the music, fine, but the lyrics are great. Worst band ever... hum. I dunno, actually... I have a huge tolerance for all types of music. I even like rap... just not the lyrics that the popular rap has. Okay, yeah thats it... Eminim. Or, as my former teacher called him (on purpose), Enima.

I find most rap these days are terrible, all the do is say a line with some lame down tempo beat and the whole crowd does little hand dance thingies.
what happened to the days of enjoyable non-violent rap of the 80's? I miss the fat boys and their human beat box abilities.

(Just to refer to something someone sed before, PlusOne....We were going to call our band that....for a good reason too....Our band consisted of a, Matthew, Mark, Luke, And A John, and my names Ian, Hence....PlusOne!!!However, we found out there was one already!
