  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If we are doing the best we can to obey the Lord, he will protect us from all things. We need to get over any impulse we have to worry about things.

A lesson I wish I had learned much earlier in life, Tore up with the anxieties of unknowing and self judgement.

If you seek after the things of this world, then you will worry about everything. Because this place is slowly slipping out of our fingers, dying, wasting away. It can't be caught. Food? Shelter? Water? Human Friendship? Family?

They are nothing.

Anything that the devil can put his hands on is nothing.

When he receives his due, all of those concepts will fall away with him.

So when your belly grumbles, know that it is because there is no food in heaven. Or drink. If you are in hiding now, take comfort. There is nothing to hide from and nowhere to hide in the Kingdom of God. When your family forsakes you, or even ceases to exist in this realm, do not sorrow. They are only a metaphor for what your true family is where your mother is your sister, and your uncle your brother. If they are your brothers and sisters, they go to where you are going.

Do not idolize even these.

You are a temple. The Holy Spirit will reside in no defiled place, for He will not have Himself there, and He will have no other gods dwell therein. Do not hang in your temple any trappings of the flesh. Your food, your drink, your partner, your church, your teacher, mother, money, friendships, good works, your sin...they are nothing until it is Christ who eats your food. You are free of financial bondage when it is Christ who earns and spends. Be to your mother as Christ. Tend to your animal friends in Christ. Allow Christ to drink of your water jug until He has had His fill, and then put it away. Go to the restroom as Christ. Let the Word of Christ dwell in and enrich you, and do all in His name. Submit yourself to Christ as the wife to the husband. Hold yourself from Him in any part, and be again scorned as the wife is to the husband.

It is much easier to commit adultery toward your husband in Christ, than it is to commit it against your wife of flesh. Do you go around laying with any woman who will have you? Even the unrighteous see the evil in this. How much more evil then, when you are committing acts of fornication in the spirit with any god that will accept your love? They all will accept it, and will return to you the only thing which they have to give. DEATH

Dear dreadnought. To worry is not to believe in Jesus, our Saviour. To worry often comes without thinking about our thoughts. But we all do it sometimes, or often. Jesus told us: Put your worries at my feet, and I will take them away. To worry will not help us, but to give them to Jesus, then ask for forgiveness, and try to forget them. Jesus will always help us, and God is Love.
The Bible tells us: give up our selfish wishes and thoughts, and ask God for help. Matthew 7: 7-10: tells us: Ask and you shall receive." We ask God and keep asking, and thank God and change our selfish thoughts to loving and caring. Ask God, then thank God and share all love and joy, and compassion with our neighbour. (neighbour is all we know and all we meet) God sees our loving and caring, and God will Bless us greatly. In Matthew 22: 35-40: Jesus tells us: " The first and great Commandment is: Love God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. The second is like it; love thy neighbour as thyself. Let us follow our Saviour Jesus Christ, and always remember that Jesus died for us, and now we can live for God and Jesus. The holy Spirit will help us also, JUST ask, and we shall receive. Try it, dreadnought. Love is very catching: Ask and receive, then thank God and follow Jesus. I say this with love. Greetings from Emmy, your sister in Christ.

Your "if" is a very big "if". Who among us is truly doing our best? So while I do not advocate worry, perhaps a less than smooth path can only be expected for many.
I've experienced a few bumps.

So you are laid off from work, but you and your wife are trusting that God will be with you in this and you do not limit your spending.
Do you think God is going to clear or cover reckless spending in that senario?

God promises to be with us in every situation. He doesn't promise to stop a beating, or to heal us or pay our debts.
We are to take thought foe our needs for each day and to be wise.

If there is rioting in the street, don't go out.

To trust in God when one has nothing is hard and sometimes requires that we conciously decide that we will trust in him.
If you are walking with the Lord, and you don't have much money, I would think the two of you would agree that it would be wise to be frugal.

Was Jesus fearing death or worried on the cross when He cried out to the Father? Was He worried/fearful in the Garden of Gethsemane as He sweat out as it were great drops of blood?

Thank you kindly.
I don't think Jesus was afraid or worried. I believe Jesus is God in flesh.

What was Jesus demonstrating as He hung on the cross and cried out:

"My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" ~Psalm 22:1

(My dear brother, i have a point to all of this. Bear with me.)

God bless you.

I think some folks take Matthew 6:25-34 to the extreme of abandoning common sense and personal responsibility. It's like driving around never looking at the gas gauge because "Jesus will keep me from running out of gas." Yeah, he gave you a gas gauge and that BP station you just drove past.

Such as?

Thank you kindly.
He simply conducted himself as he would have us conduct ourselves, in every thing he did. For example, and most importantly, he obeyed God's commandments.

Getting back to what He cried out on the cross, what was He experiencing, that He would cry out that way?

Thank you kindly.

Like I say, he was saying the same thing he'd have us say in a similar situation. I also believe he wanted to make the point that he, God, had nobody to save HIM.

Just for clarity's sake, from what you just posted, are you saying that He was expressing fear and/or worry or doubt?

Thank you kindly.

Hey, Maybe that guy knows what he is talking about. Two days after I wrote my "joke", I fell and hit my head a few times....and I'm someone who never falls.... Yet, I wasn't hurt and didn't need the stitches. I knew there was power in my words and thoughts......but I thought my Father understood the difference between my true desires and a joke.......I must not have made it clear.

Anyway...thinking about the fall....I have to say that almost anyone else would have been badly hurt....some could have even died......yet here I am, just a little sore...like nothing happened. Something had to have caught me and guided my fall.

lol anyway.... Life and death are in the power of our words... I used God's name in vain in my Joke, and was held accountable. Yet God is gracious enough to forgive and pick us up when we "fall".....Those with an ear.....hear.

No. He knew exactly what was going to happen. He was not worried.
