• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hi everyone.

As The title says I’m in a state of worry about stealing. Now please know I haven’t stolen any physical thing but rather time. What I’m implying is that at my place of work.I’ve had a poor habit of going to the restroom(sometimes to really use the restroom, and occupy myself until I’m finished on my phone;other times foolishly because I’m bored or wish to take a break) the holy spirit convicted me of this problem and I stopped hard to do this bad sinful habit. However there’s been times after that point I’ve still Done it,foolishly not paying attention to the conviction.I’m incredibly ashamed of this and yesterday I did that a few times again. Now today as I’m working hard,it hits me,the conviction of sin.Absolutely of course I asked for forgiveness from the Lord. But then began to worry,”so I have to confess to my boss as well?” that makes me worry about keeping my job.My bosses see me as a hrs worker.and I’ve been promoted 3 times in the first year of working here. Many of the other places I’ve worked at I’ve done this sinful habit as well without any worry over stealing.Of course,I’m in no way justifying the habit by saying this,The most I’ve ever spent time in the restroom is 25 minutes.Mostly 10-15 minutes but regardless that’s still time.
But what worries me is,do I have to tel my boss or do I just ask the lord for forgiveness and let him be the one to know only?

Well, all your sins are between yourself and God confession is a private affair and should be kept so. If you are feeling guilty and remorseful for this small act of selfishness you could just make it up to your boss by being much better in the future. Having said that if your boss is a good man and he is honest he may understand and regard your honesty as being very Nobel but this is a risk that you must decide just try and improve and move forward don't kick yourself down as we are all sinners looking for forgiveness.

I don't think you have to tell your boss. You confessed to God and repented. You are trying not to do it so much. Try taking shorter and shorter breaks and maybe skipping one break. Take short lunches to make up the hours. Come in early or stay late.

I was told by a teacher that the human brain is meant to concentrate on one task for no more than 25 minutes. After that our attention starts breaking down. Getting up, washing your face, and getting back to work can do wonders for your attention span.

Sitting in the stall snap chatting or gaming can be less productive but 5 minutes shouldn't hurt anybody

One of my sons got fired because he kept playing with his phone during work time. It is best to just leave it in your car.

I can't agree with that as what if he is needed in an emergency at home or elsewhere I would refuse to be ever told to not have my phone with me for this reason.

It would have to be self-imposed (not someone else telling him)...

That's true but some workplaces do impose that on their employees and if it was my work doing that I would tell them to find another sucker. But as you say if it is by personal choice maybe.

If your boss is pleased with your work then you must be doing a good job. I would say, do not say anything to your boss, you would just be kicking a hornets nest, just practice to do better.
