  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I heard that you can't spot. Meang you can't lose weight in just one area and not all areas of your body. Cardio will definitely help you lose weight... but keep doing your crunches and situps so when all the fat is gone, you'll have killer abs!! Of course, I saw this thing on TV that says a certain stress hormone makes you gain weight around your stomach,... now I'm not sure about that, whether it's true or not, but just cardio exercise will help you lose weight! Of course, eating healthy always helps too. Plus I'd cut down on any sodas/carbonated drinks and on your sodium... they made your belly look bigger than it actually is (not sure why either, but I read it in a fitness magazine)

Sit-ups wont help. Try this...

Lie Flat on your back
Lift both your legs about 5 inches above the groud level. DO NOt BEND.
Lift it all the way up to around 90 Degree.
Bed the knees now and touch your tummy or chest with your knees
Go back down But Do not put you legs on the ground.
just keep it 5 inches above the ground level. This is very very important.

Repeat this exercise for like 15 or 20 times and 3 sets.
This is for your Lower Abdomen.

You'll feel the result in just one day!
Trust me.

The thing about the tummy... is no matter what you do like situps/crunches etc... it isn't going to make your tummy smaller, and if that's all you do with no cardio... it could actually get bigger. The reason is that you cannot spot reduce fat, and so you will just be building muscle behind the fat in your tummy.

The best way to get a leaner tummy is to do cardio... however the rest of you will get leaner too since your body will burn fat from everywhere. (unfortunately, usually the stomach seems to be last place it wants to pull from)

After you have done lots of cardio and your pants start fitting better etc... then work in the crunches/situps etc... to start building some definition down there.

Good luck and god bless!

Hi, i need some help, i've been trying to trim down my stomach size, but all the crunchs, and sit-ups aren't helping that much, does anyone know of a way to lose fat around the stomach?
The simple answer is cardio and eating well. If you are eating more than you should be than cut back on your caloric intake. Otherwise just try to eat more healthily and spread out small meals over the day. If you do that and you go running, walking, biking (whatever your current fitness level allows) you will see results over time if you stick with it.

Yea I saw that too... Think they said it was cortisone ??
Yup, it's cortisone that your refering too. Cortisone is released by the adrenal gland when your under stress. One of the side-effects can be weight gain. But this would really only apply to someone who is constantly under high stress or who is taking shots of cortisone (in one of its forms) for lowering inflamation. Your average person doesn't need to worry about it too much.

Reduce your bodyfat through eating what your body requires, eating fewer calories, cardio. How much, often will depend on your body type. If you're an endomorph, you'll need to do a lot more cardio than if you were an ectomorph or mesomorph.

You can't tell your body which areas to take from. For many people, the stomach area is the last to go.

Best to You,
Doris

Hmmm.... I am not exactly sure what to tell you. I am 16 years old, and i was never overweight, but my stomach used to be somewhat soft. Anyways, about 5 months ago, I started doing 80 push ups and 80 crunches every morning and every night, and it made it a lot harder. Also, i started drinking 32 oz. of water a day, and that has helped me out too! Hope this helps!

Bye!

As far as the mentioned advice it's all right on....you can't lose fat in one place...but doing cardio is a great way to get rid of the excess fat on top of the muscles. I have found that if you do cardio (bike, running, walking, etc.) a great way to ramp up how many calories you burn is to do interval training. For example, if you are riding the bike, you ride for like 2 min at a low level at maybe 85-90 rpms...after two minutes up the level to something challenging, stand up on the bike and SPRINT as hard as you can for 30 sec. This helps get your heart rate way up there and then you give your body a little time to recover.

Just a suggestion!
