  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My ex-husband told me on Valentine's day that for a "fat chick" I looked pretty in lingerie. He also told me once that he wished he'd met my sister before he met me because she was alot better looking. Talk about painful! Words do hurt and the Bible tells us in James about how much damage the tongue can do. If a man you love has spoken unkind words to you I want to let you know that I know how it feels. I will be praying for the Lord to blanket you in peace and confidence. Hang in there, hon.

Oh yes...I'm all to familiar with the pain words can cause...the tamest example...two days after giving birth I was told I was a fat ugly pig because I didn't immediately look like I did prior to being pregnant.
Big hugs to you...congratulations on the birth of your child..whenever it happened!! What a horrible thing to say...I hope he has improved since then, and if not, then I am praying for that to happen right now!!

Thank you. That was in February of 94...I left him when his outbursts were no longer confined to verbal and emotional attacks and became violent. To the best of my knowledge he's not changed at all because in his point of view he was only telling the truth as he saw it and never saw a reason for him to change anything he said or did. Besides that, as far as he was concerned, if he lost his temper it was my fault for "making him" lose it (or it was the kids' fault), but never his.
