• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I been having some pretty awful symptoms and I'd like to know if you think they are smoking related.

I tend to be an anxious person to begin with and since I've begun to slow down on smoking it's been getting worse. I have trouble sleeping, headaches and angry.

My main question is I've been having that Skin Crawling sensation all over my back and on my legs. The feeling of my skin going hot to cold to hot.

Does this sound like a withdrawal symptom or a symptom anyone else has experienced?

Increase both your water intake and Vit B complex during this time of withdrawal.. it will help remove toxins and build up your depleted nutritional supply that smoking has taken and masked. Run/walk and cough up the plehm... clear your lungs. It may be forty days and forty nights of hell but you can do it.

Praying that you are of strong constitution and resolve to be rid of this bad habit once and for all time.

I smoked for 27 years and quit 6 years ago. The symptoms are different for different people. The cravings can be tough at times. As time goes by the symptoms and cravings spread out more. After 6 years once in a while I still get a craving, but most if the time I cant stand the smell of someone who is a smoker. And the smell of a smoke can give me a headach or almost make me sick. But the biggest pleasure of quitting smoking is the money I save. Good Luck. You can do it.

Your body is repairing itself at the moment and thus you will starting different types of sensations. When you smoke, blood flow is decreased throughout your body and when you quit the flow goes back to normal. As your blood is circulating through your body you won't feel as cold as you would normally.

However, like the above replies state everyones withdrawals are different. I tended just to be nasty and cranky when I quit (I have been quit for over 2 and a half years now) but really had no physical withdrawals (other than cravings). My advice to you is seek some kind of profesional advice. There are many free hotlines and websites with quit smoking advice and support. It may be linked with your quit but you also just be sick. Your severe symptoms of withdrawal only usually last up to a week so if it has been ongoing I would talk to a professional about it.

I hope and pray your quit is successful and this information is helpful.
