  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Will suicide send a person to Hell?

Even if least known, the only reason for which one will die in one's sins is not suicide at all but the charge of not knowing and believing that Jesus is actually the "I Am Who I Am", the Father, Almighty God and "life-giving Spirit" or source of life, i.e., "the living God" and "God of the living" as testified LIVE by Moses and Elijah (Matt. 17: 1-13; Luke 9: 28-36) and powerfully revealed once and for all in Jesus' diacritical (transfigurational) death on the cross. (John 8: 21-28 et al.; Matt. 26:64; 27: 50-56)

WARNING: Active opposition to the thoughts and ways of God, concerning Christ's death on the cross, leads to suicide, e.g., Judas.

The lesson is simple, viz.: "taking care first of the log in one's own eye" or, in plain English, minding one's own business. (Matt. 7: 1-6)

I don't understand that last part. How is minding one's own business even relevant to suicide? Don't you think that people who are normally driven to take their own lives usually are minding their own businesses? At least to the point to where they would even seek to end their own lives?

I think that someone else made a similar response. It doesn't say in Exodus or in Deuteronomy that God said not to kill yourself. And, it's generally interpreted to include only killing other people - not yourself or animals.

In Genesis God gives us dominion over animals. Throughout Scripture, we see God giving the authority to conduct war. God also gives government the right to impose capital punishment; Christ submitted to such execution Himself, as did may Martyrs who came after.

God never gave us the right or command to take our own life.

I believe that the taking of ones life is a sin; not a sin more grave that other sins we all commit on a day to day basis, but a sin just the same.

If someone takes their own life to defy God, such a sin would condemn. If one takes their own life as a result of mental illness and the resulting depression and despair, yet has faith in Christ, Christ's merciful treatment of that sinner will be no different that what He promised for all of us sinners; mercy and eternal life.

We know only that Judas felt remorse; while he did not confess Christ in Scripture we can not see into his heart and soul. As we trust in our Lord's mercy, all that we can conclude is that Judas may or may not be in heaven. No more, no less.

i would find it hard to believe that the person that takes their own life would be a child of the living God.. to have had fellowship with Christ and then to have lost hope to the point of becoming destitute.. let's be real.. they were never saved to begin with....this is pretty much the same thing as asking if a man being saved could continue in a life of sin.. the answer is the same.. no.. the very nature of the Holy Spirit that lives in the believer, is contrary to sin...He makes the changes[sanctification], that we could not do on our own.. bringing light and life, and hope into the spiritually dead man.. and as we walk in fellowship with Him.. we have an ever growing hope.. a joy at doing His will and not those things that are contrary to Him.. He gives us His peace.. His love.. why would it say in scripture, "God starting this good work in the believer will surely see it thru to the end".. if this were not so. then how am i or anyone for that matter to be able to trust in the Lord.. or His Word.. it's like the unpardonable sin.. to be able to blasphemy the Holy Spirit. you could never have actually known Him.. for to know Him is to become a new creature.. and this new creature does not walk contrary to the nature of his Heavenly Father.. so you could never have been saved to begin with.. so, it's what is commonly called a catch 22.. the very fact that you are concerned, is the proof in itself that you are going to be fine.. the question shouldn't be, " if a man commit suicide. will he go to hell"? the question should be: a man that does not put off his oldself and and continues in a life that is contrary to Christ.. is he born again. and the answer is no.. you see, the reason i asked, "born again". is because we are all hell bound, until we are saved.. and again, once we are saved. we are a new creature in Christ Jesus.. i am certain that He will not allow one of His elect, to kill Himself.. does it not say that the Good Shepperd lays down his life for His sheep.. well, whats the point of that then.. if some of the sheep kill themselves for whatever reason.. this is not scriptural.. some say that it isn't written, that we should not commit suicide.. but, the truth is.. it is written.. it is written in everything i just told you.. you might decide in you heart, that i must not understand their sufferings.. and you would be right.. but!!!! i know the apostle, paul.. and i do know his sufferings.. and they are so much more than any of us have had to contend with.. consider paul then.. now for the part that matters most of all.. the reason for this thread.. i am not sure why you are bringing the subject of suicide up. and then asking if it is going to be okay with God, in the event that one has done, or will kill themself.. if you have lost someone this way.. i am sorry.. i can't begin to understand how aweful you must feel.. i could see how you would want answers.. if you, are planning some kind of early retirement from this life.. i assure you that you haven't taken stock of yourself, or who you are in Christ..you are no longer just some soul, that filters out air along with the rest of us.. nope.. you are a son, or daughter of the Most High God.. He loves you and makes provision for your entire life.. how is it that you my own in Christ could come to the point of such disharmony, within yourself.. you are so important to the body of Christ.. a vital member.. just as our Lord is the Head of the Body.. you also are a vital member.. do you not know that you are a brother or sister of Jesus.. these aren't just empty words.. you are created for the sole purpose, of bringing glory to God.. that is [wow]important.. did you know that when you go before you Heavenly Father in prayer.. that everything else is put aside for you.. thats right.. you have God's undivided attention.. stop looking at time.. infact, forget about time.. you are no longer a creature separated from God.. and God is not Bound by time.. God can do this.. c.s. lewis, in his book mere christianity. showed how an author, when writing a story. wrote about a charactor, and as he was writing. there was a knock at the door.. so he put the book along with the character down and thus on hold for a few hours.. then when he came back to the story he continued at his leisure. so when we read the story.. we don't see a pause for the knock on the door.. so it is with us, and God.. here consider this God is Omniscient.. right? well, God chose you.. now if God that sees everything saw that suicide was the route that you were going to take.. would He have chosen you.. really.. give your head a shake.. lol.. now i could have told you what you wanted to hear about whether suicide will condemn a man. but, then i would be a liar and you would know that i didn't love you.. and by this know that the love of our Lord isn't in me.. but i have remained true.. so you to remain true to me.. and fight the good fight and then on that glorious day when i am at the wedding supper of the Lamb.. i can look across the table and see you smiling mug.. and together we can rejoice along with our blessed saviour.. in Christ with love and respect.. dale ps> you are never alone.. all of the Heavenly host and the saints and myself.. but, more so, our Lord Jesus. we are all at you complete disposal.. so please, don't hesitate to ask for help, comfort, encouragement and love, as we all one body.. :)
