Historian Heather Cox Richardson has revealed what Republicans will do to address the concerns of their constituents should they take over the House in November.

"House Republicans today released a 1050-page “report” laying out their priorities for what they expect will be their takeover of the House."

Tackling inflation? Uh-uh. Improving the Economy? Think again.

No!! They will be prosecuting all sorts of imagined grievances and slights--1050 pages worth, none of which will do anything to help their economically struggling constituents.

The document makes it clear that their priorities if they take the House will be to investigate Hunter Biden, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the evacuation of Afghanistan, immigration policies, and, perhaps above all, Merrick Garland and the Department of Justice (DOJ). But the report is a self-own in that it makes clear that the Republicans have no intention of actually trying to deal with inflation and are instead going to push the investigations that keep their grievances before the media and feed their base.

If you want Representatives who will do their jobs, and you haven't voted yet, you can stop this nonsense.

It's obvious that the main goal for republicans, if they win the house and/or senate, is to do all they can to prepare for the 2024 election. Nothing more, nothing less.

Well, if they are not interesting in governing, why should they even hold office?

I think the main reason is to give their donors their money's worth.

Republicans will likely exacerbate our inflation if history is reliable. Mccarthy's plan already made clear republicans will fight to lower taxes for elites and corporations, which usually increases inflation. Voters in America do not seem to pay any attention to the actions of politicians, only the divisive words. One thing we can be sure of, republicans won't create legislation to minimize contributions to campaigns from complicit corporate sponsors. Corporations are the only entities republican politicians feel beholden to protect. Because they aren't compelled otherwise at the ballot box!

Trump’s 2017 tax cuts helped set stage for today’s inflation. Doubling down will make things worse.

eh...Benghazhi!

Only the first 50 pages of the report are new prose. Kate Riga of Talking Points Memoread the rest and noted that about 1000 of the pages simply reprint letters Republican representatives have sent to members of the Biden administration, including 93 copies of a 5-page letter they sent to U.S. attorneys.

The House Republicans’ plan was apparently to grab headlines with an apparently big “report” and make people uneasy about the Biden administration. The document makes it clear that their priorities if they take the House will be to investigate Hunter Biden, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the evacuation of Afghanistan, immigration policies, and, perhaps above all, Merrick Garland and the Department of Justice (DOJ). It may just backfire on them if they don't address inflation, immigration, healthcare, prescription costs, etc., it will be another 2020.

I don't think people vote for what brings them or society benefits, they mainly just follow the slogans.

One of the many reasons why I think humanity should go extinct as soon as possible. Because of that, I'm holding my thumbs for the GOP.

This got me thinking of a video I just say something I never heard Biden saying "Today, the most common price of gas in America is $3.39, down from over $5 when I took office," There was another one where they were asking about about some Congressman didn't want him to come to there state and does he think they are wrong. He did answer yet not one word made any sense at all.. no clue what he said.

So its not worth talking about since it will not be talked about. We can talk about what might be and play with speculation all we want but its not facts. Why we can't won't talk about Jan 2020 up to now? A president just before elections tell us no more coal no more drilling.. which is odd and again will not be talked about is what that same President said told America about why gas prices are going up. I remember because it was not his fault but those companies not drilling enough. See truth is any Scientist will tell you these are great ideas yet it can not will not ever happen in our life times.

You know what hurts? is here we can't just talk. I'm 61 and been here 20y and it was not always like this. I am happy to talk about all and I mean all the Rep have promised and not done. Hard pressed to find anyone to do the same for the other side.

So yeah sorry not here to offend.. man I should never have to say that. Never ever Christ at my witness ever tried to wanted to offend. But lets talk truth we love Jesus Christ and TRUTH is Rep Dem have to STOP splitting the nation and work together or nothing will change. Blaming the other side over and over .. great but what have you done? Would have been wonderful if grandpa did what he promised and bring us together but that never once happened. As long as we are divide and Christ is always was right it will fall.

The Fed is really the only people who can deal with inflation, and they will do so before 2024.

Yes. I remember chairman Powell being told by Trump that he wanted the interest rates to stay at zero. Biden is not doing that. Unlike his predecessor he knows that it's best to trust the experts in their fields. Whereas his predecessor tried to coerce the experts to keep interest rates at a level that he felt would benefit his campaign for re-election, Biden is too honest for that kind of stuff. If they say that the country will recover more quickly if interest rates are a little higher then he puts the country first, not a quest for personal power.

Should Republicans in the House put forth legislation that has no chance of passing?

Yes, slogans and short statements are important.

How about

"If the Republicans are in charge, they have promised to close down the government and secure significant reductions in Social Security and Medicare."

This should be repeated every day, each time accompanied by a quote from McCarthy, Scott, or Johnson. Each has a such a proposal. McCarthy's is the most serious since it can be implemented when money needs to be appropriated or we reach the debt limit.

If it’s sound public policy that addresses some (or other) need or ramifications from earlier attempts at governing needing to be justified/defended/amended/scrapped, yes, that is how it used to work, when one party didn’t have all the “conservatives” and the other all of the “liberals”.
The intersectionality of the Parties that each had a left-right wing within them, and vied for “control” within the party, keeping it on an “even keel” (roll) and the Republicans counterbalance the Democrats, (pitch) and the Fourth Estate bringing up the yaw.
I ain’t never seen no ocean, but I’m enough of a sailor to know that you keep the ballast as much in the center as is possible.

Too long. Five words is about the attention span of the average voter.

Which is also the case with the democrats. The impression they give is their main focus and goal is keeping Trump and the MAGAs out, while keeping everything else on the back burner unattended to. I think most Americans are tired of that circus, and there's only one way to put and end to it. We don't care about all their politicizing nonsense when we're paying hundreds of dollars for weekly groceries and gas.
