I suspect, that your living in the UK where Islam is definitely on the rise, that it is social or cultural pressure that is causing you to consider conversion. (If not, please set me straight)

Actually, I live in the United States in Oklahoma (Mid-west). I never said what or if I was considering... only whether or not people thought I'd go to hell for converting to something.

I still love her very much, but I have asked her, as I will ask you, why would you choose to believe that God became a book, rather than bcome a man? What is it that you find so attractive about Islam? These questions may help to provide some further guidance.

Seems to me that this sort of question is only a problem if you believe that people deserve to be saved and/or people try to do what is right appart from God.

Apart from God's grace recieved through faith in Christ and His promises, none can be saved. How does God choose to give His grace? Through the Word and the sacraments. Do Muslims, Jews, Buddists, Hundis, etc., have this faith and these means of grace? I'd say no.

I'm sorry, but that is the most cruel thing I've ever seen here. I'm not being flippant or trying to cause trouble, but to suggest that 4 billion people are going to be sent to hell by a loving God just because no one introduced them to Jesus just baffles my mind. I admire the faith and dedication many of these people have to God, faith and morality... the idea that they are going to hell just because Christians don't get off their rears and teach them seems impossible that anyone would believe that.

I wish more Christians could begin to show the faith, morality and dedication people of other faiths have. So what if Muslims and people of other faiths do not know of Jesus? They are still wonderful people that I admire and I can't imagine anyone believing they'd burn in hell.

You know what makes us different from every other religion ? We are the only ones with a LIVING God. Muhammad is dead. Buddha is dead. Jesus is alive and in the world today. He died and He rose. That right there is enough to make me stay committed. My God is alive and He is alive for me.

Now, as far as people going to hell... As far as I know, Christ will not return until the Word is preached to all the Earth, meaning everyone will have knowledge of my Lord and Savior before He comes back.

People don't go to hell for not believing in Jesus, they go to hell for their sins. There is no such thing as a good person, at least not in the terms that God requires.

Why did Christ come? Because we were good people who need a little moral guidance? "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." In the same way, no one truly seeks God. If someone truly did seek God, He would not hold them back, God wants us all to come to Him. But none seek Him, indeed, "no one comes to Me, unless the Father draws him." God is loving, but He is also just, and the just reward of our sins is death and eternal judgement. You and I are no better, it is only by God's grace that we will be saved, He would be no less just if He threw us into the pit of Hell, because that is what we deserve. Even you and I, who have been through the regenerative waters of baptism, cannot go a single day without offending God, indeed, I can even go a single hour. You must look and see what sin is, and how horrible we truly are, then you will see that God is just to deal with us as He chooses, and you will see how truly loving and long suffering He is, that He would wish none be lost.

Yes, bitterness towards the notion of people going to hell for picking the wrong religion. I don't want this topic locked, so I don't want to be accused of being mad at anyone... but I thought, "wow" at some of the comments here... how unsympathic and cold they come off.

My faith is not so much the topic, but the discussion of whether or not people who convert away from Christianity would go to hell.

Acts 10:42 says that we are COMMANED to tell people that Jesus is the judge of the living and the dead.

Therefore, if Jesus was a prophet, and prophets dont lie, he must hve been telling the truth when he stated I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE. THERE IS NO WAY TO THE FATHER EXCEPT THROUGH ME.

Those who have never heard the gospel will be judged on their conscience.

Those who reject Jesus will be sent to hell. Simple as that. (Although I believe Jews are the exception.)

I believe the Catholic Church disagrees with you... that good deeds done onto others will be accepted by Jesus as done onto Him.

As great as the Catholic church are they are not infallible whereas Gods word (the Bible) is. Therefore if Catholic teaching conflicts with the Bible then the Catholic Church is wrong.
Good deeds are important, but not for salvation.

We dont know that. I beleive that those who havent heard the gospel will have a chance to accept or reject Christ in the last second before they die; or God will at least have some way to judge their hearts.
