I like to go out with my friends sometimes and have drinks. I don't do anything "bad" when I go out. This is a way that my girffriends and I go out. MOST of the time I have too much and end up drunk.... This i maybe only once a month or less. My mother told me that the bible states that "your body is a temple" etc... I exercise daily, eat organic, take lots of supplements and take GREAT care of my body otherwise. I just love wine. Is this something that will condem me to hell?

Biblically, drinking isn't a sin, but drunkenness is. It's more a matter of idolatry and stumbling blocks for most Christians, and that's reason enough to avoid it. From personal experience, it's better for me not to, because I'm one of those who won't just drink one or two........if I drink at all I drink too much. And although at the time, I think I'm having great fun, I always do or say something that makes me ashamed later.

Also, if you have any genetic tendency toward alcoholism, don't drink, it's not worth the risk.

The only thing that will send you to hell, though, is rejecting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.

As Christi said, if someone has the self-control and will power, drinking in moderation shouldn't be too much of an issue. Getting a little buzzed is one thing, but crossing that threshold into being drunk is detrimental to mind, body and spirit. The primary time people end up making bad, sometimes life changing decisions that result in major problems is while intoxicated. A huge amount of Emergency Room situations involve alcohol abuse.

Yes I agree. I used to binge drink...to me the sole purpose of drinking was to get drunk and that then lead, in one way or another, to being somewhat dependant on it to let out my emotions when my grandfather died. But that's a different story. I haven't binged since coming back to Christ earlier this year. It's something I've struggled with greatly and there was a time when I did slip and drink a lot and I could feel myself getting drunker and drunker and unable to stop drinking. I ended up on my knees praying for help to resist it and thankfully the Lord helped me. Why was I on my knees praying? Because I knew that drunkeness was a sin. You have no control when you're drunk and you open yourself up to hurt or hurting others in many ways. And just like money has a tendancy to grab our attention and therefore lead our focus away from the Lord drink does this also. So in moderation drinking is fine but you need to know your limits so that you don't get drunk and so that you stay in control. As Snouter said it's one thing to feel buzzed but being anything more than that is detrimental.

This is a very good point, but remember that drink can also cause us to do things that would normally not be in our character (lifting inhabitions.) We are accountable for everything that we do even if we are drunk...true?;)

Its a sin,but only the drunk bit,as long as you're not drunk its fine.
Yea, that may be so, but a lot of people don't know when they are drunk. I have seen plenty of drunk people who claim to not be drink. It's hard to know where the line is.

I personally don't think there is anything wrong with being a little drunk as long as you don't do anything stupid/crazy.

Whether it is or not, unless you repent, you will perish. Even if you keep the law at one point, and break another, you are a lawbreaker and subject to judgment.

No...okay, listen....getting drunk can't even send you to hell...but I'm not saying go and drink your life away....you exercise, yes, good...but now you need to learn to exercise your self control....drink slower...keep hold of the same drink for as long as you can, make it last...try to have fun doing other things....try not to drink so much...but no one can condemn you...God sure won't, for simply getting a little tipsy now and again...try to make it a little less frequent though.

I don't think you'll go to hell for drinking. But drunkeness has it's repercussions all on its own. I sure hope you don't drink and drive. There are people here who have lost loved ones to drunk drivers. I also remember a guy I used to hang around with (notice the word USED TO..... because we tossed him out of the house) attempting to rape a girl that was drunk.

Getting drunk once a month is not a way to vent out the stress. I used to go clubbing and pop an ecstacy for a release, once in a while. But God said He wanted more for me. And I wanted a relationship with Him again. I became so dependant on drugs that I forgot that it is the Lord that makes my world go round. I feel so content and at peace when I'm with Him.

I have to agree with most of you.I have been a Christian for well..a long enough timeTee,hee. and oh ,drinking was a BIG issue with me for many years, for aI was under'legalism' for years! Drinking a couple beers or wine, is actually good, but the sin here is "drunkeness" like in the whole Bible is the warning. Americans are in it for the 'fun' and it keeps us from being in control, and when we are not in control of ourselves, then someone else is........who might that be.....our adversary the devil walks around seeking whom he may devour.........so be sober-minded, not DRUNK. I have a beer in my hand right now, and it is GOOD, but I will not let it control me,I look to the Lord, and besides how about GLUTTENY(however you spell it!) there is a warning about over eating as well........ok,you overeaters now that the holidays are over, gonna stop sinning????????har,har.............

Just having a few drinks won't send you to hell, even stronger even if your an alcoholic you can goto heaven. Even stronger said, some angels return to the earth as disguised drunk people so that people will be reminded and given the oppertunity to help the weak. What matters and protects you is if your heart is of a loving nature.

However...

When you drink a LOT you become easy susceptible to demonical activities. Demons will try to make you angry and agressive so that you will descend into their low hatefull filthy lives. This way they can MOUNT you at a certain time and drink along. When drank too much you fall down on the ground unconsious, at this moment your aura brakes open, and a Demonical entity will merge with you and enjoy a drink.

No, but if you drink too much you will probably feel like hell the next morning.

All things are best enjoyed in moderation, but there are probably few of us out here who haven't occassionally done certain things in excess.
