  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Ok so biased wikipedia articles aren't shocking.

Anyways, I noticed none of the articles relating to creationism (that I looked thru) offered a defense of YEC beliefs, but had ample criticisms of it.

I bet there's a mini army of wiki users who edit out any defense of creationism promptly. But that' just my suspicion.

What, exactly, would you use as a defense of YEC beliefs that could be considered unbiased? Offering criticisms from various sources of a concept isn't bias. That's what a good encyclopedia entry does. But I'm unsure as to how one would go about defending a YEC standpoint beyond what is already stated in the Wikipedia article about the areas they disagree with science on.

Wikipedia is open to all users for editing. Why don't you sign up and make your case for creationism on the threads (whichever they are) you mention?

is there really such a thing as being unbiased?

that is a good question.

you can be aware of your biases.
you can tell other people about your biases so they can be aware of them.

there are lots of possibilities.

the posting is responsive to the rules that allow fellowship and non -argumentive postings.
because the issue of objectivity is not specific to YEC or OEC or TE positions.
but rather is a common problem.

Because it's a waste of time. Authors of articles often keep them as their baby and often monitor and re-edit anything that others put in.
