Would it not be that "faith alone" would have a people not be a people but as a body or Church of believers with no inclination to interpret or even look to scripture?

Are you saying that faith alone Protestants don't read and interpret the Bible? That would be an unfair statement. Actually it is their individual interpretations that get them into so much trouble with schism.

I'm not really referring to Protestants as much as to those who simply hold to a faith without trying to understand and seek insight into it. This of course would exclude "sola scriptura".

Of course, it is unfortunate when a believer holds to an interpretation with dogmatic stubbornness.
