What you appear to be implying is that if a person is right with God, they won't suffer. That is just not true. Yes, there will come an end to suffering but God is using it for a purpose today. No, there isn't suffering in heaven, but God uses our trials on earth to sanctify us (James 1:2-4).
Suffering on the earth is a result of Adam's sin, and it comes upon us all, whether we follow Christ or not. Further, suffering is promised as part of being a Christian (John 16:33, 1 Peter 4:12-19).
2 Timothy 3:12
12 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.
Romans 8:16
16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ,
if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.
1 Thessalonians 3:3-4
3 that no one should be shaken by these afflictions; for you yourselves know that
we are appointed to this. 4 For, in fact, we told you before when we were with you that
we would suffer tribulation, just as it happened, and you know.
The early church rejoiced when they faced suffering.
Acts 5:40-42
40 And they agreed with him, and when they had called for the apostles and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. 41 So they departed from the presence of the council,
rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name. 42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.
Concerning Paul, the Lord said:
Acts 9:15
15 But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel. 16 For I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name’s sake.”
Philippians 3:8-10
8 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord,
for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; 10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and
the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, 11 if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.
Paul did suffer greatly (e.g., see 2 Corthinthians 11:23-28), but God allowed it for the sake of the elect--and not only Paul.
2 Timothy 2:8-10
8 Remember that Jesus Christ, of the seed of David, was raised from the dead according to my gospel, 9 for which I suffer trouble as an evildoer, even to the point of chains; but the word of God is not chained. 10 Therefore I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
Sometimes we also suffer for His sake:
Romans 8:35-37
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written:
“For Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”
37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
Sometimes, sufferings abound, but so does God's comfort.
2 Corinthians 1:3-7
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5
For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ. 6 Now if we are afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effective for enduring the same sufferings which we also suffer. Or if we are comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation. 7 And our hope for you is steadfast, because we know that as
you are partakers of the sufferings, so also you will partake of the consolation.
8 For we do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, of our trouble which came to us in Asia: that we were burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life. 9 Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead, 10 who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver us, 11 you also helping together in prayer for us, that thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf for the gift granted to us through many.
Philippians 1:29-30
29 For to you it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but
also to suffer for His sake, 30 having the same conflict which you saw in me and now hear is in me.
There are so many other passages I could quote, but I just urge you to expand your view of God. Many are prophecied to fall away from their faith, for example, on account of their refusal to endure suffering for Christ (Matthew 24:9-13, Luke 18:1-8, 2 Thessalonians 2). It isn't worth it!
There's a modern person I can think of whose life very well demonstrates a willingness to endure suffering to be obedient to Christ, and he was richly blessed by God. You can watch Mohammed's story in about 45 minutes from
