  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Joseph,

It sounds to me that something very wonderful is happening to you. Many times the Lord draws people to Him, even though they may not know much about Him. And it happens more often to people who are in difficult situations.

Why don't you follow through on those feelings and learn more about what Jesus has done for you, and how much He wants you forever to be with Him? Maybe there are churches in your area you can visit, or a mature Christian you could talk to. And hang around here and learn what you can on the Web or in the library.

Basically, Jesus laid down His life in order to pay the sin-debt that each of us carries, which we could never pay for ourselves. If we accept His offer of forgiveness and reconciliation, we are assured of eternal life. And that life in God begins here and now, not just later.

God draws people to Himself. So, yes, you very well may be getting hints that you need to turn to Christ. I have had similar experiences in my past. I absolutely believe that the Christian God is the One True God and that Christianity is The Way- The True Faith that established the universe.

I don't know what you believe, as attraction to a church can be for many reasons. You might stop by a church you feel comfortable with, and discuss it with a pastor.

Here's the kind of thing Christians are strangely attracted to:
Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. 19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. 20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. 21But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God. from John 3

What are you believing in?
Well..this is the verse that gets me every time John 3:16- For God so loved the world he sent his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

His name is Jesus Christ.

If you like to find out more his story is in the Holy Bible. See if you can get your hands on the Bible so you can read more about him. Turn to the New Testment - there are 4 gospels and they all talk about Jesus and what he's done for us.

I'm going to be blunt with you and some people won't like it, but it's not about them anyway, it's all about Jesus.

No-one but Jesus can tell you what you are in for. Many people sell Christianity from the angle of forgiveness of sins and save yourself from hell, go to heaven instead. Actually, it's a lot more serious than that, and many Christians have been tortured and killed for their faith. This is it in a nutshell:

God owns the world. He has laws about how to make it run in harmony. Man contends with a greedy heart and see's that by breaking God's law he can gain a lot more of the things he likes, even at the expense of others. How does he do this? By manipulating what the masses believe.

True Christianity is the matter of giving up your life to work for Jesus and not for anyone else. There will be many tempters out there trying to buy your faith, but Jesus has paid a price that no-one else could ever pay, and He now sits on the right hand of God until all His enemies become His foot stool. Who are His enemies? They are the rebellious angels, we call them "demons". So, when you give your life to Jesus, you begin to fight the spiritual war against the demons, and the greatest demon being Satan who was already defeated by Jesus, it is now a matter of time before the rest are subdued. Of course, demon's are immortal and some of them can't be subdued in our lifetime, so this story has been going on for thousands of years. We are getting near the end though, it won't be long now until the antichrist appears.

There you go, if you want to be Christian, you must do as Jesus says. That means you must read the Bibe, trust what you think it means instead of what someone else says it means, and always be honest. Stay honest at all costs.

Luke 9:23-25 (New Living Translation)
23 Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me. 24 If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. 25 And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but are yourself lost or destroyed?

Just be wary, many churches will try to win you to their side, just stay loyal to Jesus and you will be able to resist all temptations. Let me know if there is anything further I can help you with, that is my duty as Christ's messenger ;)

Hi Joseph2, sorry we took so long to answer. On the time you posted in some time zones, people are having family dinners and attending events; others are sleeping.

I have had that feeling before, even after becoming a Christian. Sometimes it seems to be God nudging me to investigate or respect, but other times I think it's simply the presence of God, like a glow that goes beyond the building.

We are all made with sensitivities that we don't always admit to. People talk about sensing bad vibes ... here you sensed good vibes.

There are days when I go to church not knowing what I will gain from the sermon, and I realize this Presence itself was worth going for.

stay the [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] away from church

Actually, most churches have people who are representing The Holy Spirit and The Holy Spirit might have a message for you to hear. It is important to make that distinction betweem what God wants you to know and what someone else wants you to know. So it is not good to ignore what Christians have to say, but it is also not good to swallow every single word they say without filtering it first with your brain to make sure it fits well with what you already understand about truth.

If I could reprhase what you say here onlyGODcanJUDGEme, I would say "Go to as many churches you can, but be careful only to believe what you know to be true". Always check what someone tells you to be sure they aren't contradicting the Bible, and the Bible says not to forsake the gathering of brethren.

hi
I actually had very similar experience! I just knew I had to be at this class in this church in my city. The church was not on my usual route to anywhere, and I didnt know what time the class started. I dragged my friend with me and he mocked me, he called me joan d'arc because I didnt know where or when this class was but I knew I had to be there and I had a feeling it was half 7. It turned out the class was supposed to start at 7 but was delayed that day until half past.

That is the day I had found my faith.

Buuut I can't help but think, what if I had listened to that moment when I sat on my chair, thinking "I don't know what time or where it is, I should just stay at home"

All I can say is Listen you your gut feeling! Go to a church! If you don't want to go on a sunday - it can be quite daunting if you know no-one - then find a church that does class! Use google for this!

I am just at the beginning of my path so if you need someone to talk to about this you can message me :)

I actually found some amazing people by going to that class that day, and god has put many more people into my life! My class was 3 weeks go today, and I have already made some good friends! (though once I went in on the wednesday it was all I could think of so I go to different classes as well and am in church 4 times a week!)

Basically go in!! God is awesome!!let him talk to you :D he has some really cool things to say!

^_^ Sweet naming.

I had one of those gut feelings yesterday, about going to a small prayer meeting across the city. I felt like I got my spiritual spine realigned. "Breathing" better, very nice. God knows what we need, and where we can get it.

Ha!
Joseph2, keep in mind that everyone's story is different. Following through with the hunch is not a mandate to become a Christian -- this is under your control.

Sometimes when I've followed these nudges, I have run into old friends from HS, found a person who knew how to get materials I needed, or made some other unexpected connection. Take the adventure!

Ok im not clever at all i need help and i want someone to save me...

thought you guys were surpose to help me

We are but mere beggars ourselves in that we can only tell other beggars where they might find bread. This is a paraphrase of Niles, D.T. but it has much truth. We cannot save you, but we can only be road signs that point to Jesus Christ. My advice is to acquire a Bible and begin reading and praying. Start from there.

Blessings,
Dave
