  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

"I care for women therefore I murder babys by sucking their brains out through a vacuum." (cute).
It's not cute and you know deep down I didn't mean it in any cutesy way:)

What you call just semantics, in reality just may be an attempt to change the language in order to get us to accept what we should not be accepting.

It's age old tactic.

One just has to be on their toes and know how to spot it.
Ok. For the record though I'm not the one trying to get everyone to accept anything. Just leave me out of this. I didn't do anything:|

Exactly. If you read the posts carefully, you can pick up what the posts are putting down and that is, lets' get the focus off the baby and the act of murder (classic tactic, distraction) and lets focus in on this incredibly false and misguided compassion for women and her "good."

I dunno, maybe some folks just don't know how to pick up on stuff.

ah, I'm not harassing you... I did not drag you into this thread, you dragged yourself in here by asking me some questions (which i do not mind) and I went out of my way to explain myself to you.

Sometimes I find the defense of abortion abhorable.
Here is my own pet peeve....
IF you say you ARE pro life, then dont defend the act.

I realise some are not eloquent at typing/writing/talking out their opinions...
But if you fail to communicate - then apologise and state what you really mean.

Best solution is to ask for clarification.
If clarification is absent - then someone probably believes in abortion but wont admit it.
And i only say that because pro lifers dont leave things like that topic go.

Sorry - put in my 2 cents. :holy:
I dont have an icon - but i am pretty much in the belief that if needs be - i will try to clarify my stance and or apologise.

Anything less is an affirmation by silence.

WA, I don't think it devalues your stance as pro-life to say that you see why women would rationalise having an abortion. According to their logic, they don't want a kid, so they shouldn't be forced to have one if they don't want one, it will only complicate their life and ruin their dreams, etc. If they only look at a child as a cluster of cells and not a person or a life at all, then of course it follows according to their logic that killing the child won't be of any consequence.

What is wrong with saying that you understand their pov? I definitely disagree with it, a life is a life whether you think it is or not. Simply refusing to believe something that is true just because you don't want to believe it doesn't change the fact that it is true. I don't think saying you understand their motivations and their line of thinking is defending it... in fact I think it is necessary to understand the logic and motivations of the "other side" if you are going to effectively oppose a point of view.

"I care for women therefore I murder babys by sucking their brains out through a vacuum." (cute).

I am serious BA, it's so sad, but that is seriously what I have heard some abortionists say. Not verbatim, but they seriously do think they are caring for women by removing the "burden" of an unwanted child from their hands. They depersonalise the child by "medically" saying that it's "just a cluster of cells". Which I think is a pile of bollocks, because it is a distinct entity right from the moment of conception, with its own distinct DNA makeup and all...

Last time I smiled my face almost cracked, I oughta report you for that one...

lololol.

Gwen, what i saw for myself is not a guess.
It was a flat out stance defending an abortionists value for women.

However; at the time of my writing my suggestion was to ask for clarification from the member who posted. To make sure they were understood.

I have seen something that is definitely pro choice because other posts [from same person] defended the post.
So i dont find the value in that sort of post in here.

Seeing someone's pov is different than making statements as tho they are truth. Know what I mean?

lololol.

Let me provide this fact:

"Suction Aspiration
Used in most (90%) abortions during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. Anesthesia, general or local, is given to the mother. There is no fetal anesthetic. The mouth of the womb (cervix) is dilated. During pregnancy the cervix is closed tightly to protect the baby and can be easily damaged by forcible dilation. A suction curette (hollow tube with a knife-like edged tip) is inserted into the womb. A strong suction tears the baby to pieces, drawing them into a container. Great care must be used to prevent the womb from being perforated by this procedure. Sometimes, in a very early suction abortion, a smaller tube can be inserted and the cervix does not have to be dilated so severely; this is called a “menstrual extraction”. Often, however, the tube does not remove all the pieces and infection will result, requiring the cervix to be fully dilated and a “D&C” performed. "

The myth here is the so called cell-cluster (as you describe it). It is not like an egg you eat for breakfast in the morning.

Even in the first 12 weeks 90% of all abortions use the suction aspiration which tears the baby apart and then the doctor views the remains in a dish to make certain he has all the arms and legs.

The doctor knows exactly what he did, who he did it to, when he did it.

There is no excuse for this, there is no messiah complex. It is about the money, period.

I now officially declare Faithforums dead.

It's Faith Discussion. :) And it may be dead in the sense of being a super active forum. You could be right. Maybe it's just hibernating a little. But I enjoy posting Hail Marys to my rosary thread and interacting with whoever shows up, even if it's only a few people.

I plan to keep to it going, if I can figure out how to (The technical stuff is imploding on me) because it's peaceful and relaxing for me now, when the technical stuff is all working right. I like peace. There's so little of it in my life, and in the world.

Kinda like calling people fascists, huh ?

Actually, yeah. That's why I apologized.

I really don't think so. i think it's becuase they are sleaze balls who could not cut it as a real doc.

I think they are some stats on this to.

You know, I would buy that argument until that doc actually does his first abortion and then if he says that he's doing them becuase it helps out ole Mom... he is so freakin full of it. He then knows better.

I didn't realize that this forum was pro-abortion at all. In fact, I have always found it to be very much pro-life. However, if it has not already been done, I do think that the pro-abortion viewpoint should be banned in this forum.

and you know, it's like saying a Porn star really thinks she/he is doing something good with her/his life... Come on, they know they aren't. They know they are dong something really sleazy but they do it becuase it's the only way they can get paid.

Interesting analogy. They, like abortionists I guess, could delude themselves into thinking they aren't doing anything "wrong", per se... but that certainly doesn't change the fact that it is wrong entirely. Although people who get involved in the sex industry tend to get really down on themselves... a lot of depression and other illnesses... I was watching a documentary once on people involved in the porn industry - I like learning about the mentality of people involved in the sex trade and the porn industry - and this one producer said something about how in order to work in the industry, you have to turn your brain off, because the material is "so completely and utterly soulless and empty". I was surprised to hear him say something like that and then defend what he did, because I was like, "If you acknowledge that it's 'soulless and empty', why do you still do it?"

And I guess you're right in that instance. Because they know where the money is, and they get paid.

It makes me really sad to think about. :(
