Why won't you stay?

For my 4 year old daughter Shaylee

Counting the nights so patiently,
He's coming to see me,
Why he's been away so long I don't understand,
My Daddy doesn't come to see me at school like all my friends'
Daddy are you going to stay with us?

We play and he throws me high into the air,
Daddy always catches me,
He loves my curly blonde hair,
He even takes me to the bouncy house,
I get so upset if he doesn't see me when I go down the slide,
Daddy are you going to stay with us?

Daddy was at work for a whole year and he only came home for 2 weeks,
He sent me my Doggy Tags,
and he calls me on the weekends,
Daddy always laughs my knockknock jokes,
Daddy are you going to stay with us?

He hears the dissapointment in my voice as I say bye bye,
Daddy waves from his car and just drives away,
He looks so sad,
So Daddy why wont you just stay?
