Bill Nye's attitude (for example) just causes people to dig in their heels and respond the same way they were spoken to- disrespectfully and obnoxiously. I have never seen anyone clean up the mess they've made in over forty years of managing rental housing (although if they did I wouldn't know it). However, there is an eccentric lady that has picked up litter for years all over my neighborhood.

A few years back while walking my dog in the early morning I discovered the remains of a beer bash with broken bottles littering the children's play area. No, they insist that it will take a lot of concerted action to reduce the rate at which carbon dioxide and methane are produced. Because it is very easy for everyone to just keep doing what we all have been doing.

China, India, and some other nations account for most of the problem and they have no intention of spending billions on clean-ups rather than on other things.

Most of my efforts are spent policing my hunting territory. I've enlisted the help of the township (although they don't know it) by setting big stuff out by the highway, forcing them to pick it up.

On the positive side I've noticed much less littering since I've been de-littering the place.

Well, I am not sure where you were going with the OP. But in regards to the question made in the title, the answer is quite simple. It is because global warming is a global issue that requires a global effort. An effort that is not shared globally. Basically, until China and India gets their act together, it doesn't matter what we do.
Note: Look at the EU. Weren't they the ones lecturing the U.S. and leading the way on the war on carbon emission with the Paris Accord?

Well, I am not sure where you were going with the OP. But in regards to the question made in the title, the answer is quite simple. It is because global warming is a global issue that requires a global effort. An effort that is not shared globally. Basically, until China and India gets their act together, it doesn't matter what we do.

Good on the USA for reducing... but there is a deceptive method used by western countries to reduce their apparent carbon footprint, that is to keep using products that result in CO2, but getting them from other countries with less restrictive rules.
